MSSQL 2005 Installation

I was trying to install mssql2005 advanced express edition, but i ran into some problem, it was continuously spiting error at me, the error was this..

The SQL Server System Configuration Checker cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on the machine PHONIEX Error:2147749907 (0x80041013).

i was just frustrated, coz this same error occured when i had tried to install it some half year ago. but still the same error haunting after these long times, It was a wmi problem and after some nearly an hours search with google, i got the solution... i had to run a batch file and bingo the WMI error was fixed. actually it is something like refreshing the links and associations that is what the batch file does. the batch file which i used is as follows..

@echo on
cd /d c:\temp
if not exist %windir%\system32\wbem goto TryInstall
cd /d %windir%\system32\wbem
net stop winmgmt
winmgmt /kill
if exist Rep_bak rd Rep_bak /s /q
rename Repository Rep_bak
for %%i in (*.dll) do RegSvr32 -s %%i
for %%i in (*.exe) do call :FixSrv %%i
for %%i in (*.mof,*.mfl) do Mofcomp %%i
net start winmgmt
goto End

:FixSrv
if /I (%1) == (wbemcntl.exe) goto SkipSrv
if /I (%1) == (wbemtest.exe) goto SkipSrv
if /I (%1) == (mofcomp.exe) goto SkipSrv

Birds of feather FLOCK together

Flock what a name for a browser. Just another we browser on the horizon or what? well we'll have to find out. The tag line goes as The Social Web Browser. and it does seem certain things are integrated into the browser so that you can be in touch with all your friends, like blogs, and many other things...

feels good. but still..... when seen on a wide screen yeah the browser is really good. really... but in my system it doesn't make any difference. and in linux the UI really reminds to me of Firefox (which is my favourite), may be after a week i might find some more differences... Lets check it out...

A hair cut, A Triple Boot, 3 more installs......

Hah!
yesterday was a little great in its own way, atleast after starting with a big disappointment.

First there was the Hair Cut, since something went wrong when i was styling my hair, i thought of making it right by cutting the hair off at the correct places. so with the instructions to give to the barber from my dad, i took off to the barber shop. since i have to remove the glasses when the hair occurs i couldn't see what happened. when it was finished my long hair had been cut short, my dad had tricked me into saying that to the barber.

in the evening, i decided to install the darn windows, which had crashed a month ago, and my system has a problem, coz unless the Linux partitions are removed i cannot install windoze... i hate this Redmond giant for that what a cruel little way to remove Linux from my system, so i backed up everything on dvds and went about the ordeal. this time i decided to somehow do the triple boot with 2 linuxes, which had been eluding me for quiet some time. and yes i did achieve it with some hicchups though, but hey atlast i did it. A triple boot with Windoze XP, Debian Etch, and Fedora 8. see 2 linuxes. hah! man i rock, i should say. But there is one thing, how the hell was i able to pull it off. is it because linux got easier, or i got intelligent, i would like to guess that it is the former, coz if it is the later, then there is something seriously wrong with me.

later in the day, i did install RHEL 5 double boots atleast in 3 different machines. and that was it. what a wonderful day

svn server

Hah! the wonderfull things called mistakes....
yesterday when i was trying to setup the sn server in the UAT server in CGSL, i faced a strange problem, which i did not face in linux.
i was unable to import a file to repository in windows svn server.

i found the answer today. we should use file:/// protocol instead of svn:// protocol.
nice learning though... could have thought of that yesterday when setting up. instead of trying various other things for half hour...

long hair

Yesteday was too tough... I had to put up till 10 at CGSL, Spencers... when i was leaving, i saw a guy, with exactly the hair style which i had imagined and trying to achieve. Mann.... it was much more beautiful to see than that i had imagined. now i have made up my mind. I am not gonna stop listening to anyone. I will struggle hard and complete this hair style which i had dreamed off..

XMMS and Rockbox on Rokr E6

What is the joy of hearing music, without it's ooh's and aah's.  my phone Moto Rokr E6, is good.  the sound quality is really cool.  but still, in the inbuilt real player, if u choose any equalizer settings, u cannot observe any change in sound, even with headphones the sound remains the same....

XMMS a winamp clone for Linux has been ported or reworked for Moto Rokr E6 (ezx).... this works on both E6 and A1200 (aka Ming).....   the interface is cool, very similar to winamp...  the controls are also cool.... u even have skins...  and the best thing is the equalizer.  mannnn it rocks....

thought i am satisfied with the working on it entirely still i faced a small problem (it depends on the severity), i was unable to play 2 particular mp3 files with XMMS which i was able to play properly with real player and zmplayer.  now lemme ponder a little ova this, and see it i could find any reasons for it.  if i couldn't i will go back to the trusted forums to get an answer.........

The iphone theme

hmmm.  successfully installed the iphone theme  on my rokr e6 yesterday night.  took less than 3 minutes.  The anxiety was too high when i was doing this, and i could have bricked my phone, but i didn't.  Now the phone is working cool.

i had to install and use linloader and a good lin script to install the theme.

if any of u need the theme file, leave a comment and i will send it to u, coz i don't have any place that does not expire with time.....

the procedure was simple.  extract the theme and take it to mmc card.  make sure there are no spaces in the folder name.  then long tap the iphone.lin file and run it with loader.  leave the phone as such for a minute till the installation is complete.  you will get a popup saying installation complete.  now switch off the phone now u will be able to see the iphone switch off screen. now switch on and voila, u have the iphone theme installed......

this worked for me, and i am not facing any problems....  still there is a easy and safe way,  that uses a theme installer, which u can find in mobile junkies forums.  you will have to register (free) to download....

long Hair and open SuSe 10.3 GM.....

Jeez, it has been a long time. it is diwali holidays and i am working in office. i should be some dumb idiot. still who cares.....

My hair is growing a little at a time. i think it will be complete within another 3 - 4 months. i hope so... the pair of contacts will be arriving this month end. so i have to soon get into shape, get some flat abs, and good looks and start to learn guitar. Lemme do one step at a time...

nothing has happened, thought i feel like writing often, i don't have anything to write.

i tried to install linux in office system yesterday and today. This time i tried Open Suse 10.3. from the image which came with chip. i burned a dvd and tried but it said the media is corrupt. so i transferred all the files from the image to the harddisk and tried still the same error. and then i tried to install it via http. THis time i got 403 access denied error. i still could not understand why i am unable to install open suse. Only once i have successfully installed suse, when it was in a cd images which came with chip in early 2005... after that it was nearly impossible. but i have instaled ubuntu, knoppix, debian, fedora, and blah blah but suse, i haven't

well off i go to home now. will figure a way to do it.. or atleast lemme check out if the iso image which was provided itself is corrupt or what?!!

Birthday celebrations

Hi, all

me and Siva took some pics with my mobile during my birthday celebration in my office today.
Hope ya'll like it.

you can see them at http://picasaweb.google.com/nasarabna/MyBirthday2007

Lightning 0.7

Lightning V 0.7 is cool. much better than the previous version. Ok. First things First, do u know what is Lightning. it is a add-on which gives the calendar ability to thunderbird, ma favourite Mail Client.

the inteface change is cool. I don't know if it could have been achieved with the previous versions also, but the positions which it took is cool and awesome.

Man, i'm loving it....

My Theme Song...

was too boring.  took this quiz

***Your Theme Song is Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd***

"There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves."

You haven't been feeling a lot lately, and you think that's a good thing.
The comfortable part is nice... but you should really work on numb.

What's Your Theme Song?

Another big step towards death....

Hmmm,....  yet another un event full year passes.  Nothing great happened, except i switched 3 jobs this year.  i lost some, and i found some who i had lost.

and here i am taking another big step towards death, and yet some people will celebrate this.  (OK this is my point of view, so no arguments please.  I am not in a mood to argue)

So will atleast something happen this year?  Will something happen today (like 2003) to make it memorable?  Will atleast something interesting, adventurous happen this year?  Atleast, will it rain today, as it usually did on my birthday when i was a kid (till i was in middle of college(2003))?

Well, only time can answer.  and since time won't answer so very quickly, we'll (i'll) wait, for the answers.  Till then, go out, enjoy your life to the max, coz, one more step has been taken towards death, and final glory........

A lil housekeeping.....

Aah, atlast i did visit selvi today. say kavin. was cute, but didn't pick any pictures of him. was raining when i started to her house. walked and enjoyed the rain as i went to her home. The came back. On the way i bought some DVD's so that i could backup some data and free up some space.

I Backed up the Full Metal Alchemist series completely. All 51 episodes on to a DVD. now i can watch them anywhere anytime, the only constraints would be a pc/laptop with a dvd drive.

then went about uninstalling all those which i did not want in my system, something which had remained in my system for eternity, but i have never used them. i removed 'em all....

Hope it rains cats and dogs tomorrow.

am gonna call sridevi to wish her a happy birthday.

Contact Lens......

Went to Turakhia, checked for contact lenses, they said since my power's attributes are so very rare it has be ordered specially for me, so i made an order for them and i returned. When returning in the train there was guy selling those night sky stickers which light up when u switch off all lights in the night, and makes the ceiling of the room appear as though the sky. It would give a nice feeling as though we are sleeping under the sky. Have to get it stuck to the ceiling of the room. will do it later.

Watched 300 again. was good. it will be good, how many ever times i see it. Well more later, i have to go selvi's place to give her the invitation. see ya'll later.

And hey Happy Birthday Sridevi. Have a great day. will call ya later tonight.

Rain........

Hah! nothing is really happening, except the rain. Nothing, even i am not rocking. I skipped yeshwanth's brother's marriage reception. There was good rain and i could use it as a reason, but i don't wanna hide it anymore. and i admit, I am afraid, afraid of the marriage crowds. I don't know why, but i am afraid.

It's funny, how someone can be afraid of something so meaningless, but still it is my mind which is afraid and not yours.

Well, nothing out of ordinary is happenieng. I have taken leave from work today, i will go on a little shopping today ( i won't say for wat now, coz the suspense might fadE) and then visit selvi if possible and deliver Bharathi's marriage invitation to her and say a big hi to her son Kavin.

Well nothing more. Just Another Boring Day

The old project, fever and a marriage.....

How come certain things never change....

The old project came back with twist.  There seemed to be a problem from the very beginning, and it wasn't solved, and they didn't find time to complain abt it, till a 2 weeks ago.  great, and know what that problem is the major one and the one preventing them to use our application.

fine who cares.   I had to give training to the guys in the new project.  Tat office sucks... big time, but there is something to it.....

and i am down with fever cold, body pain,   you name it, from the end of last week.  it is killing me (just kidding), still it is hampering my work quiet often.  Nothing great ever happened or even will happen, still

day before yesterday was Veera's marriage, and i wasn't able to attend because of the illness.

Blah!  nothing more, i was feeling not good writing, so i came back to write..

Another project, & my colleague......

The first project has been declared completed.  was a kind of rough ride, but the destination was reached.  That was the one which counts.  From yesterday i have been transferred to a new Project, which involves automating some money related process.  The basic project seems to be simple.  But the technological challenges involved are interesting.  But i don't know weather i will be involved in that part or not!!!!

Whenever some one asks me a help and if i am free, or i pass by and see some one struggling i offer my help one way or the other.  and i don't think it is wrong to expect something similar from them, but i don't...  Well, but when i am in need of help and i ask certain some one in office and they don't help me out.  But for some other one of the opposite sex, even without a call for help that certain someone goes out and helps for the same problem for which i had asked help some 2 days back.

I am not saying that him helping her as bad or something.  It is good.  we should help each other out, that is what the whole team setup is for.  But what is it that is preventing him from helping me out, even after i had asked him to help me out when i was struggling,

I am not jealous or something like he is helping her, or something.  But why did he reject to help me?!!!!!........

I hate these guys....

Svn on Fedora (yet another update)

Ok. after digging with google and svnfourms, the conclusion is this is due to file permissions.
But i tried with 777 premission it did not work
i got apache, root and local user into a common group called svn.
set the umask of local user to 002 and tried still the same error.

I am too tired to continue. I am going to sleep. will continue tomorrow.

SVn Server on Fedora misadventures.... (another update)

ok.
i found out why it was asking me id and password again and again. It was a mistake that i had made.

On inspection of the server error logs it was strange that the error recorded was user was not present. so i checked the auth (password) file which i had created and it had only one user, the one which i created last.

The reason is this. when creating users i had used htpasswd -cm instead of htpasswd -m. and so only the last user i had created existed. Well now i created the users properly. and tried to access the url via firefox, now the i crossed the authentication phase, after entering the username and password correctly, i passed thru, only to face yet another error. The error is this....

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

Could not open the requested SVN filesystem

I am just starting to be hustled. But this ain´t something new. I can and will come thru this. I think it is time to go back to asking Google.......

SVn Server on Fedora misadventures.... (an update)

Jeez......
it is getting more confusing. but i am moving forward inch after inch may be even mm after mm.
I had updated the httpd (apache) to 2.2.6-1. still there was no change..

When going thru the comments section of subversion.conf, all examples were made with /var/www/svn as reference. so i moved my repository to /var/www/repos/... and made the changes to configuration accordingly, now i am being asked for username and password. Great!

But now the problem is, it keeps on asking the username and password even though i gave them correctly and when i hit cancel. i am given a 401 Authorization required error..

lemme dig around more. check the httpd logs if there are any clues present and come back ....

SVn Server on Fedora misadventures....

Hah!

i am just trying to document what i had done till now. So if i get everything accidentaly correct i can check back and see where i went wrong. I am trying this at home...

i am listening to Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven...

Since subversion and httpd are already installed. i created three repositories

/repos/Graziano
/repos/Ginny
/repos/Everonn

then i did yum install mod_dav_svn

then i created 4 users and used the info to create a acl and stored it in /etc/httpd/svn
then i created the configuration for the access path in the subversion.conf placed in /etc/httpd/conf.d

the problem that i am facing is this. The authentication is not happening. I mean, i am not asked for user name and password. i am directly allowed to access the resources...

the httpd version was 2.2.0 and svn version is 1.4.3, so i thought i would update httpd..
so now i am updating it.....

TT

How is TT played? that was what i thought when santosh called me for a round of TT. Anyway i know that i have to hit the ball and send it to the opponents court. and i played with that approach. later mid wat jana came in and gave a explanation on how this game is played.

well anyway we had a good time, and i sweated a lot after a long time. Was good fun playing TT. Myself, Santhosh, Vimal, Balaji, Bharathi, Pavitha played for some 2 hours or so. then we returned to work. We took some pics, will post them soon.

Psst : if u don´t know what TT is, it is the short form or abbreviated form of Table Tennis.....

Linux Fever (SVN server on Fedora 7)

I had configured the svn server at office. and even found how to configure the client to access the server and commit and update changes and stuff. But what was worse was, i was asked to redo it again, but this time with linux as the OS. This was never going to be a challenge coz subversion comes preinstalled in linux, and so it was gonna be a lazy bums work. So i thought.

Yesterday i installed Fedora 7 on the system. It was a nightmare as usual. Whenever i install linux anywhere outside my sys it fails, but being the never say die guy. i set out on a mission to complete the job by the end of the day. I tried installing Ubuntu 7.04 it gave me a buffer error at fd0. i couldn´t make anything. so what i did was again start with my favourite Fedora and this time, i got things correct and installed it.

And there was subversion

Then when i checked for the presence of svn, it was there in /usr/bin. I was a bit disappointed. coz everything was there. svn and apache. now just redo the config in apache that i did in windows will do the trick.( i thought so). i configured everything as i did in windows. Then the challange sprung up to my surprise.

I was accessing the svn via http with firefox and i was asked to authenticate (the usual thing). but even with correct username and password with which i had configured, i was given a you are not authorized to access this (403 forbidden) error..
I am yet to solve this problem. as soon as i solve this i will come up with update post.

SVN (Sub-Version) Server...

Like as i had promised, a step by step guide of what i did to setup a SVN server...

Though i first thought it to be a complicated procedure, it just took me around half hour to completely setup the thing, though i was stranded for the next 20 minutes for i was unable to get a http access to it.  that was entirely my mistake, i did not understand what i read in various articles across the net...  then i had do another research to find another detailed instruction which cleared my doubts.  So if you guys can do it (copy paste and typing a bit faster or even at normal pace. i can guarantee u that you can have a svn server with http access in less than 5 minutes.  Yes it is that easy.  (the time limit is calculated, provided you have all the installation materials downloaded and ready in your system).

Ok. Lets get our hands dirty.

Go here and download the svn zip archive. This is for Apache 2.2.x server.  if you are running Apache 2.0 then go here. In my case i am running Apache 2.2.4 server, and i had downloaded svn version 1.4.5 for 2.2.x Apache version.

Now unzip it and place it is some place where it is easily accessible.  say c:\svn.

Now right click My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables, and at the end of the PATH variable add the path of the bin directory of svn.  that would be c:\svn\bin, in my case.  Use the path where you unzipped your copy of the svn.

Now we have to create repositories.  we will assume you will need multiple repositories.  for example, proj1  proj2. now create directories where you will be placing repositories.  eg: c:\svn\repos

proj1 : c:\svn\repos\proj1

proj2 : c:\svn\repos\proj2

now lets create the repositories.

in command prompt type..

svnadmin create C:\svn\repos\proj1

svnadmin create C:\svn\repos\proj2

that is it everything is done.

configuring Apache:

For installing Apache, check out the post on walk thru of the PHPBB installation.

copy the files mod_authz_svn.so and mod_sav_svn.so from the subversion unzipped directory to the modules folder of Apache.

Copy the following dlls too to the modules folder

intl3_svn.dll, libdb44.dll, libeay32.dll,ssleay32.dll.

now open the httpd.conf file

remove comments before these lines.

Loadmodule dav_module modules/mod_dav.so

Loadmodule dav_fs_module modules/mod_dav_fs.so

add these lines

Loadmodule dav_svn_module modules/mod_dav_svn.so

Loadmodule authz_svn_module modules/mod_authz_svn.so

at the end of the config file add this line.

Include c:/svn/subversion.conf.

Users

ok. now lets create users and passwords who can access. go to the bin directory of Apache and type

htpasswd -cm c:\svn\svn-auth-file <name1>

Newpassword *****

Re-type password *****

adding password for user <name1>

use the same procedure to create other users and passwords. do not use the -c switch in the command.  only the first time ever you create a user you will have to use it..

if you want to have annonymous access then u can skip User creation step.

Access Control

Now that we can authenticate our users, we must configure the access rights to our repositories. To do this, we create another file in our etc directory.
C:\svn\svn-acl

#
# specify groups here
#
[groups]
team1 = name1, name2

#
# team1 group has a read/write access to proj1 repository
# all subdirectories
# all others have read access only
#
[proj1:/]
@team1 = rw
* = r

#
# proj2 repository,
#
[project2:/]
name3 = rw
name4 = rw
* = r

#
# name2 is helping with the time zone part of the proj
#
[proj2:/timezone]
name3 = rw
name4 = rw
name2 = rw
* = r

The groups section can be used to define groups of users. For repository project1, only users from the group team1 have read/write access. All other users have read only access.

It is possible to define access for the entire repository, or for specific directory within repository.

SVN COnfig

Now for the config file for Apache. Put this in the subversion.conf file.  you will have to modify it according to your requirements

<Location /proj1>
DAV svn
SVNPath C:/svn/repos/proj1
AuthType Basic
AuthName "Subversion Project1 repository"
AuthUserFile c:/svn/svn-auth-file

Require valid-user

AuthzSVNAccessFile c:/svn/svn-acl
</Location>

<Location /proj2>
DAV svn
SVNPath C:/svn/repos/proj2
AuthType Basic
AuthName "Subversion Project2 repository"
AuthUserFile c:/svn/svn-auth-file

Require valid-user

AuthzSVNAccessFile c:/svn/svn-acl
</Location>

once you finish it that is it. restart apache, and you are ready to go.  type http://localhost/proj1.

Addicted to Google

"As long as Google is there, i can do anything, that is above the earth and below the sky"

I was looking back and thinking about how i react to things which i face 'em.  It all started after i had said the famous saying of mine "As long as Google is there, i can do anything, that is above the earth and below the sky" to bharathi on Friday afternoon.  I was not having any work, since the client had not replied and also she hadn't come to office yet.  And i was lazing around, why i said that.  and a small questionnaire and a little travel to past revealed something.  I am dependent on Google for a lot of things, it is like i am addicted to Google.

The email u give to others: Gmail

when you want to know something: Google.com

you blog at: blogger

your pictures are stored online in: Picassa

Do you have a personal web page: Google pages

You have your official documents and presentations in :Google Docs

the social networking site you frequent: Orkut

which desktop search do you use: Google Desktop

see i have answered everything with something related to Google.  and the highlight of the whole thing which got me thinking was when i was in Bangalore. We needed the std code of Bangalore so that we can make a call, i fired up Google search in firefox and got the std code.  Now this seems to much, i could have asked the person who was sitting next to me, he is a bangalorean, i could have searched my uncle's phone  number in my phone address book(he lives in bangalore).  But why did i search Google?

when i had to setup a AMP server for the forums i could have called Mr.Suresh. He knows it.  instead i used Google again.

and the latest in this list was the above mentioned episode with Bharathi, when she asked me if i knew how to setup a svn server.  the statement gives away how much i am dependent on GOOGLE.

But the reality is as i had said.....

"As long as Google is there, i can do anything, that is above the earth and below the sky"

Dreamz......

Dreamz.... They are such a beautiful thing.  They are the drivers of life.  They are the ones which don't allow us to sleep.

I had a dream.  A dream, that i would walk this earth without glasses, just like every other person out there.

I fought hard, i begged, i tried every alternative in the book to get my parents consent for the laser operation since i was in 11th standard, and at last i even got it last wednesday.  Everything was ready, But my Eyes had slipped out a little, they couldn't hold on for a little longer, they had developed a cylinder, which was uneven...

The whole operation of doing this operation is to remove my dependency of glasses.  But, that is not going to happen (atleast for now)... The maximum they say they can reduce is only 5 diapters.  and if i opt for the completely laser approach called Interop laser, then i will be remain with 2 diapters for the rest of my life.  and the cost 80,000 to 1,00,000 Rs/-.  The trade of doesn't seem worth.

The whole point is, why should i wear glasses, after doing an operation to enable me to be without glasses...

Now, i will wait again, wait till the scientists develop some other technology to do it more clean.  The cost is not gonna be a problem, but i will wait till they develop some thing which will completely erase my dependency on glasses.

PHPBB Installation and Configuration...

As i had promised.  The complete step by step guide of what i did to get the forums up and running...

PHPBB, is one of the freely available online bulletin board or forums software.  The beauty of PHPBB is its simplicity yet completely functional and ease of customization.   Though i did not do any customization, if i think i know anything about it. i will walk thru that too.

First and foremost since PHPBB is written in PHP language, you need to have a server which can dish out pages written in PHP.  we have a choice here since it can be configured with IIS or Apache or with any other damn web server software.  But the choices i had was IIS and Apache.  Since i cannot have IIS in my office setup i had to default to Apache.

Then the next thing is the database.  Here i had a lot of options and also i had the freedom to choose.  Since PHPBB supported both MS and My SQL.  i had a confusion.  which to use.  again since being a open source fan and a slight hatred towards MS i choose MySql.  which leads us to a familiar territory, and that would be AMP setup.

Though i have setup AMP servers in Linux by hands, i had never done that in Windows.  coz for windows there is always a Next -> Next -> Finish thing available.   But this time i had to coz using such a WAMP setup might get me praise in office for setting up a forum, but would cast a serious doubts on my credit status as a GEEK.  So i decided to do the hard way.  and that is why this post is there....

I am giving the steps which i followed and worked for me.  I cannot guarantee you that it will work.  any trouble, you can get to me via comments, and i will try to help you out.  Lets get started.....

Since it is going to be WAMP server, i expect you to have a windows system running, preferably a Win XP or Win 2000 system, with all security fixes, and service packs. This solves the W part...

Apache

Now lets get down how to install Apache. I had downloaded the latest version of Apache which was 2.2.4 at that time from here. I downloaded the windows binary download. if you are the adventurous type you can go for a source compile build install method.   Well like any windows software installation it is pretty much straight forward, Next -> Next -> Finish type.  But still you got to enter some info..

In the third screen where it will ask for Server information. In the First and second text Box, give the Ip address of your system. if you are going to use localhost use the ip 127.0.0.1.  If you have a domain name, then you can give the domain name itself.  But still, i would suggest you to go with the IP Address approach....

Choose the port 80. since you will be wanting the others to access your server. Now after the installation is over, fire up your browser and type http://localhost, you should get a page saying the installation works.  For me it was a page saying "It Works".

Now put your html pages in the 'htdocs' folder in the installation folder of the server, which should be here C:/Program Files/Apache Software Foundation/Apache2.2/htdocs. now try accessing and you should get your pages...

Now try to access your site from some other system with your system name.  if you are unable to try with the IP address of you system now you should be able to connect.

PHP

Now that we have setup the Apache Web Server, we need to enable it to dish out php pages.  Well first get yourselves a copy of php from here. get the zip one it would give the most flexibility than installer one... ok. now unzip it and store in a place say c:/php.

Open this file c:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\conf\httpd.conf in your text editor (like notepad)...

Add these 3 lines to it, after the LoadModule lines:
LoadModule php5_module "c:/php/php5apache2_2.dll" (put the path where you have unziped php)

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml .inc .php3
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps

For Apache to use index.php as the default index page, change the line
DirectoryIndex index.html index.html.var     to
DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm index.html.var

Copy the file "php5ts.dll" to c:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\bin\

Copy the file "php.ini-recommended" to c:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\ and rename it to "php.ini"

For PHP sessions to work properly, you need to specify where to save the sessions. Edit the php.ini file, and find the setting for session.save_path. Set it to "c:\windows\temp\" or another folder you use as a temp directory.

Restart Apache server.  (you will have to restart the apache server each and every time you make changes to the httpd.conf file, for the changes to take effect)

Now you can serve php pages with the server...

MySql

Now comes the last part of the AMP server, the MySql database server....

This one is again a very simple installation.  Get the installer for the mysql server, double click setup.exe and keep all default settings and do a Next -> Next -> Finish...

After that you might want to create a database, which you will need for the forums to use.

Now we have make php speak with mysql.  Fire up you favorite text editor and open the php.ini and set the extension_dir variable to your php installation/ext directory i.e. extension_dir="c:/php/ext". see the forward slashes are used instead of the backward slash.

search for these lines and remove the ; before the lines.

extension=php_mysql.dll
extension=php_mysqli.dll

Copy the file libmysql.dll to c:\windows\system32\

Restart Apache...

Thats it you have a WAMP server ready, and running.

PHPBB

Now lets get the forums up and running... This is the most easiest thing in the whole process. I used the 2.0.22 version.

download yourself a copy of PHPBB for here.

unzip in to a directory named 'forums' or whatever you want to name it and move it to the htdocs folder of the Apache Server.

fire up your browser and go to http://localhost/forums. now you will be lead to the installation page. fill in all the details and click install.  and lo you will have it installed in no time.

Now go to the forums folder and rename the install and contrib to some thing else. (just add a _ after the name that will do)

Now you have a forums running.  Go to the administration panel and create different forums and topics and categories, have some some users register and use it.

Have Fun...

Sethu Samudhiram Calvai (Canal)

This canal is the center of all media attention and political attention these days in Tamil nadu.  In mythology it is said that, Lord Mr.Rama, built a canal or a dam or a bridge(i think bridge would be appropriate) from the tip of rameshwaram to srilanka to fight a war to get his wife back from her kidnapper the evil Mr.Ravanan.

Now in the present scenario. the sethu, is the place where the depth of the ocean is less, or it can be defined to be shallow, so the ships cannot cross this 18 - 20 km stretch. instead they go all the way round srilanka and get to the other side.  this a lot of time waste, energy waste  and also resource waste (imagine how much fuel we can save if we travel via sethu)  Well, so some politicians tried to deepen sethu so that ships can go.

Now this sethu or adams bridge as it is known and the bridge built by lord Mr.Rama as said to be the same.  and a certain sect are opposing the destruction of it.  there was violence in bangalore(i hate this damn place).  and a few lives were lost.  all just to save the bridge.  Now the very people had earlier said that the government is not doing anything for this problem, and now when the government is taking some step they come back and create a deadlock situation.

Wat stumped was the newspaper article which supported this act.  This is a very standard newspaper, which is known for neutrality...  but how come this favored article.  and the ending was the most stupid thing.  The way every one who opposes something usually would say.  may be a common man saying that is ok. but a newspaper of such a caliber saying that is too bad.  Please find a alternate solution to solve this problem. come on you damn guys, if you guys are the ones who are opposing the actions then you are the ones who have to suggest.  they are doing so coz they thought this is the best way to destroy adams bridge.  If you think that it is wrong,  that something of cultural importance is being destroyed and you stop it, yes it is good, but be prepared with an alternate solution.   Why just stop the work when you can;t suggest a alternative...

Lasik

Success at last, nearly after, begging, coaxing and doing all sorts of things(nearly for 5 years), my parents have accepted to go ahead with laser treatment..  I would love to go out like everybody else without wearing glasses.  Just like a normal person.  Just like everyone walking in the streets, in the train, riding bikes.

Still everything depends on what, the doc is gonna say tomorrow.  If all goes well. i will finish the training module to become a trainer and then proceed for the surgery next week.  Hope everything goes fine.

Hope i get to walk the streets without glasses.

AIMS Presentation, OrangeScape....SVN

Well i was forced to do a presentation of the application which i had just nearly completed and took live.  I was supposed to do the presentation with wink but instead i had went ahead with a ppt made with Open Office.

The presentation went fine, except for a few glitches.  Like it did not work the way it was intended to.  but anyway rest of the things really went fine...

the presentation was done in  2 parts yesterday half hour and today 2 hrs...

after the presentation when we were talking with barathi, the topic turned to SVN and she wanted to setup a svn server for use in all projects for the members in my floor.  ie for team members...  When i said, anything can be done as long as there is access to google.  she did not believe it.  I think i had convinced her. and she was saying that she will get a system ready for me and i have to configure a svn server for us.  I accepted the challenge so that i could spend the weekend doing something. But lo, it was a desire which was left unfilled.

i had finished the challenge just a few minutes ago.  Though i have to check wether it is accessible via the svn clients.  but i think it will.  coz it is working cool with the browser... so it should work really cool with the client system too....

I think i should again post it over here.  even my last promise about posting how i set up the forums is still pending.  i will get everything done soon. plEase bear with me. u know how lazy i am don;t you...

Dimension Forums

Well Well Well,

once i am back to chennai, i think i start to behave like the usual stupid geek that i am. anyway since i was absent for the first ever company meeting which was organized. i wanted to do some part which would be mine towards it. i took up one of the things which they had decided to do - Knowledge Transfer. and the only way that i know, and also the easiest and the most useful way (IMHO) was a forums dedicated for us. so i got to work on the next day that i came from bangalore and set up a test environment in my home in this stupid RAM problem system of mine. and configured a forums with the PHPBB... and AMP in my system.

The next day i launched the forums within our local intranet. Though this would be a little useful, it would not be useful if we are out of office. so i have to take it to the internet. i don't know how i am going to do it. but somehow i think i will do it. Lets hope the company steps in. But i am not going to wait till the company comes in with its solution or help. We will go on make our lives easier as far as we can by ourselves, then get the company involved...

Well, still i am not recovered from the joy of working in Mac. i am still dreaming and longing for yet another chance to go there and work in the mac system....

May be i should come up with a post describing how i had setup the AMP server and configured PHPBB. k i will soon come up with it...

It's been a long time....

yes i am back from bangalore,  and back to office again.  Again the pretty boring normal life, it's been a long time since something happened in my life....

Everything is going on as usual, pretty darn usual.  i just am unable to start to write what happened after i left house to bangalore the second time...  I couldn't bring myself to write about that near death experience....  ( u can't call it near death experience, but as far as i am concerned, that is how close i have been to death).  That morning death started at my facing asking So, when are you coming to the party?...   U know wat, the face of death was beautiful, so very beautiful.  may be taht is my version of death.

well whatever....  if something ever happens,................

A few more dayz....

it is been long, really long time. and i am missing chenai, like never before, i don't know. I am still in bangalore, and i am writing here coz, today is Janmastami, the bithday of Lord Krishna and so a holiday and in here in guesthouse there is Internet available without any restrictions.

great huh!...

well, it is a little frustrating... i just don't wanna be here... and u all know how i hate bangalore... this is one city which i hate deep down to the core... even may be till the next side of the core... But i am stuck here... and the client is . I hope i come down to chennai soon.....

well one of the bright things is, i saw my friends Rahul, Nityanandam, and Jeyan, and made a last minute dash and applied to Japanese Language Proficiency Test. I am writing level 4 this year... had struggle though, but i have confidence i will clear it... let us see....

well, anyway i don't have mood to balber now, sitting here in this chair.. watching this LCD screen, it sucks.. i'm a bit old skool, yeah, and i am not ashamed.... I am proud to be old skool...

well, will write in detail everything once back in chennai or when i get to a old skool which suits me.. got some photos too. everything after i come down to chennai leaving this sick bangalore... till then bye...

The past 2 weeks

Man, it was tough...
Rules... i hate them...

Well the past 2 weeks saw me becoming a good part of the project that i was alloted with... (actually i was alloted to it and not the other way around...)

it also saw the 60th Independence day, and there was nothing special in me.... I just did not even care. i was working my heart out, trying to make everything work. i came home only at 1 pm...

India won a damn test series again england after some eons i suppose... They are gonna surrender the one day series... sachin cracked a 99 yesterday. it must have been heart breaking, any one who gets out at 99 will be heart broken, but wat to do azhar got out at 199.....

Well, i was asked to learn the entire upto which aravind had done. and i was asked to develop the file management, and billing sections. it was fun.. yes i should say so.. i just worked my heart out, i would say. it was challenging and entertaining....

we flew to Bangalore, with the slightest hope that our demo is gonna work, and i was saying to myself, Murphy's second law ( i would say s0)

smile, tomorrow will be worse....

but still everything went fine..., the project worked, everything about future was planned, selvi left, and i was stranded in the same place, from where i came back running, without the slightest idea how i was gonna proceed......

But still considering everything that happened in the last 15 days or so. it was good, fun, and i don't know what else to say....

going to the church on a sunday morning with selvi, (instead of sleeping), walking the length of MG Road, working on apple i'Mac (wow!!!, i never thought that i would even get a chance to touch it, leave touching i thought i would never see it in flesh and blood other than in pics, and here i was working on it, browsing on it, hacking on it, bug fixing on it, configuring it)

well Chidambaram's and G3's bday passed, i wished them, I tried to meet up with some of my friends, but see i am sitting here in chennai, writing this...

i think i just ran over selvi with certain comments of mine, and that sure would have hurt. if i had, i wish to say sorry.... but i would never have the courage to say that... or if i say so, there won't be any fans for my fun... It is just for fun, i never mean to hurt anyone...

well, i took some pics, some sneaky as usual.... will upload them to picassa, u all can comment on it...

and know what!, most of this blog was composed with my Rokr E6, except those that depicts today's events...., it was edited so as to appear that i typed the whole thing in a single sitting, moving text from here and there and changing the tenses, and stuff.....

I saw, major payne, Blade, and many other films, even munna bhaii.. i should never forget to mention that.. it was really hilarious though i was seeing it,....... i don't know how many times i have seen it...

they say the client place wants everyone in formals, i have been wearing from the beginning of my life, i wish to wear jeans, but one half of me says follow the rules, and the other says

"Rules are made to be Broken"

and i did follow both my halfs......

i wish i could finish of the entire thing soon and run back to chennai... we'll see, how long it will take.... Got to fly back, to banaglore on monday morning again .... I don't why, but i hate that city... Bangalore S U C K S .....

the traffic nightmares, the mess they call food, (i am not talking about the food that we ate), still somewhere down the heart, i like this place, but that doesn't mean bangalore rocx, it still sucks, big time....

I don't know what, even after all these happened in my life, like how Tanaka Yukio, a.k.a Koyuku, the main protagonist of BECK (Mongolian Chop Squad) would say,

"It was a normal life, a very normal boring life"

I wish the second line too comes true in my life...

"Until the day, i met him"

where are you Ryuske?........................................

Most Wanted (ticket less travelling)

Have you ever traveled in a public transport without proper tickets.  I did it.  I traveled without tickets in the local trains for the past 2 days, and i did not realize it till today morning when i had to travel to office by train instead of going with my dad in his two wheeler.

This is not the first time that i am traveling without tickets.   Back in college days, me and my friends had traveled so a lot in trains without tickets.  But now it is different, back then we were branded students and we had the college id cards which had more power than one can imagine, if properly used...  But now i do not belong to any educational institution.  Now i am a professional, a software professional, any black marks are sure to play spoil sport some time in future...

But why am i afraid!....... i wasn't caught. right!  But still, i couldn't stop feeling guilty today morning.   I went to the station renewed my train pass and then i traveled to office by train, for the 3rd time.  I only travel back home from office by train...

But back in the days when i was in north, it was different. i have seen people travel without tickets as though it was their birth right.  but will pay and get tickets when using a transport system like auto or manual rickshaws.  though they would cost a lot than the buses and trains where they refuse to buy tickets.

I have even heard of incidents when a guy shot the Ticket Checker with his gun, coz he fined him for traveling without tickets.  I've heard from some of my colleagues, when i was in agra, who was a bihari saying that they don't buy tickets for traveling in a public carrier, like trains and buses.

Even the parents of Lalu Prasad Yadav, the great railway minister who changed the railway industry which was about to be shut down, into a number one profit producer in less than a year, without making any changes to the system, traveled without tickets to Delhi from Patna( this is the capital of Bihar ) and shamelessly asked why the hell should i buy a ticket to travel in a public transport....

I would not complain against such a behavior of the Indian common man, for it had been in his nature to do such things, but i would blame the government or some other control which could have made this habit disappear, but didn't...  How come everyone traveling in the metro buy a ticket.  It is nearly impossible to travel ticketless in a metro.  But i know how to. (that was the first thing that i found when i landed in delhi in April 2006...)

Well all said, i would not mind traveling ticketless in a bus service in either here or in Delhi.  For if you want me to pay for your service, make sure you do the service in a proper way.  why the hell should i pay u, when the height of the bus is not even higher than me.  so when i stand and travel i have to bend down and have a pain in my neck and shoulders.  even if the bus has empty seats i cannot sit, for there is no enough leg space for me to sit comfortably, leave comfortably, atleast i should be able to sit right!...  And how do the authorities expect me to pay for a ticket with such a service.  But still i pay and travel....

So what is the solution to the problem?...  well, i don't have any idea.  I don't have a damn idea what can be done, coz what ever suggestion i give you with respect to me will not hold good for a guy who is just 5 feet high.    Ask that guy how it is to travel in a train he will start complaining like me for everything is high there...  see the difference.. so someone ought to find a solution.

we the tall people may belong to a minority.  and yes we also have the financial ability and also the skills to own and drive a motor bike or a car, and yes i do have one at home.  yet i don't wanna use them to add one more vehicle to the ever increasing traffic population.  why not use the public transportation, which will save the country a few rupees on the oil purchase cost, which in turn will become energy saved. and also lowering of pollution.  I wish i could drive to office, but i won't.  I wish, atleast i could go to office in a cycle, my parents won't allow.  Now what can i do, other than rely on public transport.  But should i buy a ticket next time?......

Tata industries......Titanium Factory...

Tata company had planned a titanium factory to be built in tamilnadu.  Good, that is something which is good for the people of that place and also to the government and also for the country....

so said some.   then came the others...

If that factory comes, then many will lose their works and also lives.... those who had one their houses will lose their houses, and other stuff like that.

Ok now i got a question....  Why is it that the government always goes after the Agricultural lands.  why can't they give the company some land which is of no use are not being used for anything useful.  Why is it always after the farmers lands...

Ok fine take the land from the farmers, but why don't u give them the market value of the land instead of the government rate...( the government rate is 10% of market value)

On the wake of this lets go back to past for the start of this feud.. roughly some 5 years ago, when AIADMK was in power they signed with Tata Industries for this factory and promised land,  and now AIADMK lost power and in came DMK and when that pact which was signed was implemented, now again the then chief minister of AIADMK rule Miss J.jayalalitha, now opposes the construction of the factory... (great politics isn't it?),

In between these arguments between the ruling party and the main opposition party some of the smaller parties have come up with some solutions which are worth listening or atleast giving a try i think..

The first was by Supreme star Sarath kumar.  He is one of the actor turned politicians.  He formed a group of lawyers and common people and asked them collect some background info about what would happen if the factory comes up, and also to go the people of the areas which were being planned to be acquired, and get the views of the people...and then further proceed with whatever we can based on these data......   I think this is a good idea, and seems the government is gonna try these, i read in papers today morning that Karunanidhi was talking about doing this.( the government is always late, similar to the Tamil cinema police).

The second one was by Captain Vijayakanth.  He is also a actor turned politician.  What he suggested was something interesting.  May be a good solution if they are really short of time.  ( this is my view, and i am in no way endorsing or following vijayakanth).  He puts forth these points.

  • Give the farmers the market value for their lands which the government acquires.
  • Promise of employment in the factory for atleast one member of the family from which they acquire lands.
  • Giving the farmers a part of ownership of the factory(this seems really cool, but since these ppl don't know the business tactics, it can't be said to be a safe thing for the farmers)
  • Training them so that they can work in the work ( so that the company cannot reject them that they don't know how to work...)

I forgot the rest.  But these seem cool.  But still first the voice of the people have to be known and recorded then the rest can be done easily...   Since it has been decided that the factory is going to come, i wish that they make the damage to the society and environment to the minimum... and also make sure no body gets affected because of the coming of a factory there...

wat da ya think?...

English.....

Englishman: We fucked ur motherland for over Hundred and Fifty years.
Indian: O!, Ok, We will fuck ur mother tongue till the end of time.

Well, yesterday at Inox, when we were in the **** ****, to eat something (coz Satish was feeling very hungry...)  we say a guy talking to the shop boy in English.  the thing is he was talking very funny.  i mean, he was not talking properly.  the sentences were poorly formed.  One foreigner, ( i think he is from out of India) who overheard the conversation just like us was making fun of him to his girlfriend (ok, it can also be his wife or even his colleague or even his sister)..   But the next astonishing thing was that the boy in the shop ( i think he wouldn't have crossed 10th in school) talked such good English. After the guy went away from that stall, i approached for buying something and just engaged in conversation with that boy and got some details, and i was right.  He has finished only 8th and has been working since then...  He was just disappointed with the people behaving like this. He shared the same thought as me,

if you don't know something, don't do it...

i would not say i am good in english.  but i would never use it unless i have no other choice.  at the moment, when the foreigner made joke of that guy, the above joke came to my mind...

I thought i would share this with incident with you

LiVe fReE oR diE HArD..... Die Hard 4.0

At last the day and time arrived..  satish came to my house in his safari at around 5 pm,...  we reached there at nearly  5:30, it was just half hour drive,(actually there was no traffic...,  we went to the box office and collected our tickets which we had booked online...  Then still there was more than 0ne and a half hours left..  so we decided to take a tour of the City center.  Actually the Inox theaters were located inside the city center...  The theater was in the 3rd floor...  We then went another floor up and found the funzone...we entered ,,  satish wanted to play the car and bike games we went in and bought a card and went to play the bike one, which was similar to need for speed but in Most anted mode...  But when we swiped the card the system said that it was out of function..  the car games too said the same.. then we went to play the basketball, both of us taking alterante turns.  we scored 40 tickets each and went to claim our prizes...  i took a tweety hang up and he took one of the three pigs hang up.  then we headed to the theater.

The theater was cool.  real nice.  the stairs  had lighting on them with the seat rows in the light,  so finding the seat in darkness was never going to be a problem.  we got out selves some popcorn (it is not some actually a large tub) and two soft drinks for 150 bucks...  then the movie stated.  I don't want to say anything about the movie, go to the theater or buy yourself a DVD and watch it.  it is worth it.  i am just waiting for getting my hands on the DVD...

Bruce Willis is old and the fight scenes have been done keeping that in mind.  But it is the same old john McClane.  man who can stop this one man.  The villain was never afraid of anything other than McClane in the film.  But unlike the other films in this one there is less rambling from John than in the past 3 films.

It takes you back to the days of the original Die Hard and yes this film is really worth watching.  Bruce rox.   just make sure you have lots of popcorn and phones switched off and no ones gonna disturb u......

well... is there a fifth installment?  i wish they make it!...

Suresh's Hard drive.....

I had promised mr suresh that i will some how copy the his songs without virus. and so i set out to do that yesterday morning. I opened my system and connected the hdd. It was so dirty inside that even i could not stand it. so i cleaned my system and booted up.. though the HDD showed up in bios, it did not come up in Linux or in windows... But after some tweaking and refreshing my memory ( my brain and the system memory) for all sorts of related things... i remembered that i had to configure the master and slave properly with jumper settings which i had not done. Then quickly rearranged the jumpers of my DVD writer and the HDD and then the drive showed up in both windows and Linux.. i did not want to risk in windows, coz it is already broken and i am not in a situation to sit and play with it all day, for i have to return the drive to suresh atleast by afternoon and then get ready to go to a movie...

So i moved to Linux and copied all the songs and data requested by suresh.... ran a scan on them and called him up and said that everything is ready and he can come and take his drive and also that if he can get a blank DVD he can also take a copy of his data...

he came at 2pm and took his data.. well that was it. see what can happen if u stop practicing what U like and love. no if it is this situation for the loved work then what will happen if it is for a .....

Die Hard 4.0... An update....

Ok booked the tickets today afternoon.

Me and satishkumar are going to Inox on sunday to watch this film.

The show is at 7:15 pm...

this stupid guy (satish) was caught going thru the one way in the wrong direction and his license was taken away by the police.  He was asked to get it from the local municipal court on monday, so which means he can't legally ride a bike till he gets back his license.  so wat, who cares,  i don't care, we are going to Inox in a bike for the movie..

somebody stop us...(if u really dare.....)

The most blogs in a month

The most blogs that i have made in a month is 26 which i did in august '05 may be i will topple that this month.  this is the 23rd posting this month, just 4 more to go.  and just 4 days left..

i am not some one who is a great writer, or for the matter, nothing even happens in my life or i don't even think something different or something notable to write other than the fights/ duels with my parents and some ranting's just about  me..  so something happening so frequently in my life just happens rarely and that is what the number of posts per month indicate...

well anyway all the best to me that something interesting happens so i can write 4 more postings.....

Apocalypto....... A Review...

Ok, another Mel Gibson film, so what?

well this was good, not like passion of the Christ, though...

this was a film based on some history and nearly half of the facts are right and half wrong...

The film begins with these lines..

A great civilization is not conquered from without until it is destroyed from within.     "

—W. Durant

Well to say the truth (considering this as a film and not something which depicts history sequences or anything like that.  Consider this just as a story ok..) Mel Gibson has done a fantastic thing in making this film.  The survival, the chase ( which i think) is the highlight of the movie and also the interesting part of the movie.  when the chase ends the movie is just 5 min's from ending..  The acting is good, and story ( i remind u, this i consider as just a story and not a historical depiction of the Mayan civilization) is good.

you got to see the acting.  When Flint Sky(the hero's father), ( don't know the real name.  do a Google or check wikipedia) asks his son not to be afraid when he is executed in front of his son jaguar paw(the hero).  and also the scene when the seven (jaguar paw's wife) and turtles run ( jaguar paw's son) are left trapped in a small pit and a raider goes near it  to check his dead colleague.  ya got to see their expressions..  The human sacrifice scene and the scene when Jaguar Paw confronts Zero Wolf, the waterfall jump, everything is so beautiful...

Particularly the chase requires a special mention, coz the forest is the location where this happens (for the matter the entire film takes place in the forest..)  just keeps you at the edge of the seat...

A must see if u wanna see it just as a movie and nothing else....

The depiction of the Mayans is a bit too awe... i mean it doesn't seem real..  the human sacrifice practice, yes it existed in the civilization, but showing them as people obsessed with that practice it a bit too much....  Also it is shown as though the solar eclipse was unexpected,  but you see, the Mayans were very good in astrology and should have been expecting a eclipse instead of being surprised to see it happen, as depicted in the film...

well all said,  don't see this movie to learn about Mayan civilization..., don't see to believe that Mayans were like that... or for the matter of fact even the timing of the period when the movie takes place..   see it for Mel Gibson, see it for the acting, see it for story... see it for the human's clash.. human's behavior blah blah!!!..........

Will u marry me?.....

Yesterday, Viji called.  nothing special or something just the usual trash talk. during the course of our talking the topic shifted to family, boyfriends, girl friends, marriage,.....  suddenly she asked, "unakku yeppada kalyanam" (when is your marriage?).  Funny, it had been nearly 5 years (it was in 2002) since this question was first asked to me, and i am still saying the same answer.  yes i said the same answer, though she is the third one among my college mates to whom i have said this answer.

wanna know what the answer was?

I will marry the girl, who comes to me and says "I Love U! will you marry me?"

so am still waiting.  anybody out there?!!!!!!

About Me....

Here's a guy from yonder
Don't get too close....
cause I could be the one
to hurt you the most.
I'm so cold.
she's left me battered and
broken....
If you come too close my
sharp edges just might
slice you too...

i am cold like hell...
Scared of living …yet afraid to die
Scars of dark red on my heart make you cry...
A damaged sin…an innocent dream
A bizarre minded word
From my black painted soul
Screaming your pain out
Deep and dangerous like darkness...
I'm like the cigarette you are inhaling;
so good to the taste but
so bad by the end of the race..

i may be dangerous still...
I'll win,
for I am the one who will not stop,
I'll keep it going with myself at the top.

I'll guide you like fear...
I won't let you go.
Mind you..Loving me
Is Dangerous....

You might think I'm a little bit crazy
Could be but you'll never know for sure...

I'm a thousand reasons to be cautious
and a thousand more to be brave...
Told you, I'm dangerous....

it looked nice so i copied from some profile in orkut.

Love to walk in the rain..

I'm standing here
The water drips,
down my face
onto my neck

Mascara runs
Blush fades away
Look, you'll see-
It's really me

I'm standing here
In pouring rain
Don't join me now-
You won't understand

This feeling's pure
Soon it'll fade away,
when the sun comes out,
and drys away the day

You're looking out your blinds
But you still don't see-
You don't see pass this storm
You look right through my eyes

This rain is cold
I love the chill
I'll wait again-
For my next walk in the rain...

Picking up my dad...

Today i was woken up early in the morning, by my dad's call.  He called me up to ask me to come to station to pick him up.  It was as early as 6(see it is early morning these days) in the morning. i got up and left half heartedly leaving the sleep.  But i did reach the spot earlier, much earlier, i shot a couple of pics.  But as i was waiting there i was taken back in memory of the school days when i used to get up early go to tuition, going to cricket camp, or just that ncc practise, or whatever it was,  it was fun, i am missing all of em these days, waking up daily around 6:30, getting ready running to office.  It is not that fun though.  the sky was beautiful, the trees swaying to the gentle breeze, the hazzy sunlight, half dark, half light, the coffee, everything that time was beautiful..  i seem to be missing everything these days.  But still why i'm not ready to getting up early.  why all these beautiful sights are not thrilling me to get up.  or is there something  else overwhelming that this  which is preventing me from waking up...?

Acer Suresh...

Mr suresh, had bought a new system, only the CPU box and keyboard and mouse.  a darn good one, but little old one i say. nearly it was made 2005 end, i suppose.  but i did not say him that.  the thing is it will surely get his work done, why unnecessarily  make a big fuss about it.  Gone there to install it this Sunday. installed Windows Xp and Office and VS 2005.  tried to persuade him to install Linux, but he refused. felt a little bad about it.  but hwy, who cares as long as i can be called to install something.

and u know what the mouse he has is signed by Hrithik Roshan.  Damn....

Manju Kumari....

Friday was just as usual only i was a bit not normal, i don't remember why!  on the evening i saw Animatrix was nice. it is like a prequel and in between scenes of the Matrix trilogy.  then Manju called suddenly!  remember her, the ganguly fan, the one who worked with me in NIIT as career counselor.  Aah!  now u remember!  well yes she called up, said she was coming to chennai.  she is coming to take her mother with her to lucknow. it has been a year i suppose, since i met her last, i think i saw her when i came down with the broken leg, i don't remember seeing her then, but i still have the memory of meeting her the last time before leaving for delhi,.  that was the last time i saw her, coz when i came down with fracture here she called saying she is going to lucknow and if possible will come and see and i told i am in chennai.  and when i was leaving to delhi back again i called her and she told she is coming back to chennai.  then again when i left the job in agra and was about to return to chennai she called up saying she has got a job in niit in lucknow and she is now there.  see all these time we were unable to see each other.  she will be coming any time this week.  I hope this time we will meet.

Konfuzzed

yes i am confused, wat am i doing here, i am just as lazy as i would have been if i had been home, except for the TV there which is not here.  I ain' doing anything here.  Well is that what i am getting paid for.  like as any other would say "who cares as long as u are being paid for doing nothing",  but it just doesn't seem right u know, you gotta work atleast something for what we are being paid,

but wait why am i making such a fuss about this here, it is just this one day when i am jobless,

See that is it, the very me, see i can't keep quiet doing nothing even for a little time.  see that is the problem,

so what am i to do?

who knows!?!!!

Well, somebody should know?

who is that damn somebody it is certainly no me...

ya it ain' me either.

wait a minute who am i talking to!!!

yourself you dummy!!

see i told u something happened to me right, see i am talking to myself, god what is happening?

wait a minute you are never supposed to talk to god, you don't believe him right?  then why the hell you calling him?

hold on! what the, what is, shit.

i think i will go out and come later.

Group by......

disclaimer: this post is not an explanation of the SQL 'group by' clause....

yesterday balaji gave some reporting work. ok fine i understood wat he said at the beginning (actually i was wrong), and went on and finished the work.  Well, so i thought, when i showed him, he pointed out where i had missed, and asked me to make it right.  Man was it difficult, actually it wasn't difficult my illiteracy  was the problem there.  Coz, i still don't know what can be and what cannot be done with this damn tool.  as i(we(vimla)) was(were) pondering over the solution,  we found something called Group Row.. this seemed interesting, and upon questioning, we got the answer that it was indeed what we have to use.  But on reading tutorial and also applying in examples, we could not understand, i was still not sure, that, if i had to use it, on where(which column) to use it.  today morning, ASA i woke, that would be some half hour back, it simply struck me, that it can be applied on the common column. yippee, yeah, hurray, damn it....

What the, the common column was never retrieved to the dataset. now what to do??????, I'm still pondering.....  Well at least i could write it down so i could go office and go thru this even if i forget.

Damn, i just wasted half hour thinking abt work.!!!

first time in a bar.......

Saturday i went to Mr, Suresh's house for troubleshooting his system.  wasn't a sweat though.  later when i was returning home, i was waiting for bus in madipakkam, there i met Jeyanthon.  He offered to drop me at home.

On the way he went to have drinks.  he took me to a bar.  this is the first time i am going to such a bar....  i mean the local bar... i have been to pubs and bars in many hotels but a bar like this one, this is the first.  I would like to remind u that i am not a drinker.  i just went in there to talk with him that's all.  Sitting in a bar is no offense i suppose.....  well it was interesting though.  the sight of it.(i tried to capture a pic with my mobile bu i was prevented).  the people there everything was interesting.   There was a guy singing, yes the way he sang was quite nice, but without music, but sure it was good, the words, the rhyming and the music that he produced by tapping and hitting the table was really nice....  and funny  too....   well that was it, after some hour and half, we left. he dropped me in my house and left.

Later yesterday (Sunday) i saw the movie Company, which was RGV(Ram Gopal Verma)  i had already seen this movie, still i wanted to see this.  it was so ...  i just don't know to express it, i was just lost in the movie.  i saw it for the 12th time yesterday.  it is about the underworld..   well then it was nothing more.    the joy ride ended with the movie. and i returned to my normal life...

It's my life......

Come on, i am just fed up with all these indirect remarks or me and being compared.

Well, what is it if i am like this,

wat is it if i am computer junkie,

if i do not know the city well,

if i don't move with groups.

fine, that is how i am, and please leave me alone,

I just can't become somebody else just because u want me to.

I am what i am

and therefore

I am dangerous

Fedora 7

At last i installed Fedora 7 day before yesterday.  It was really cool, and really better than 6 and equal to 5 at first view.  Though the installation was fast, most of the common things did not get installed like xmms and k3b.  Well that wasn't a big problem, everything was fixed, downloaded and installed, even with mp3 support, and guess what i even got some 3gp convertors for linux, which i am still unable to get it for windows, and they say linux is way far behind in video convertors and editors.  but see what happened in my case!,  but yeah still i could not figure out how to use it, anyway eventually i will figure it out.  that won't be a problem.

i installed mono and vlc, and mplayer and also mencoder.  got to check eveything out, maybe after i go home today.

Well anyway i just finished the demo project given to me.   and so sitting without any work.  thought i would write some thing.

Rafa Vs Roger an Update...

Well my hopes did crash.  Though Rafa pushed Roger to him limits still Roger won the title for the 5th time this year.  Truly he is the King of Grass.

and tried to upload the photos here in the albums section, but some problem couldn't upload,  come on support the Firefox if you want me here.

so i uploaded the pics in Picassa

go here to see the pics

Rafa Vs Roger

The wimbledon tennis finals is happening as i write, between King of Grass and the King of Clay, hope Rafa wins this.  Coz if just one guy rules the court the game will loose its shine, someone needs to challenge him, and Rafa is back again to do it, this Jan i missed to watch him, but next i won't.  I will be there to watch every match of him.

But, just coz i want Rafa to win doesn't mean i am big fan of him or for the matter i don't even hate Roger, they are masters of the game in different conditions and courts.  For the matter i am not even a fan of any one, not even a single person i can identify to be as a fan.  I don't know why, but i watch them play i laugh with them, in every match i take sides, i cry for them, But as it is it is just a game and they are players, today he is there tomorrow someone else will. i don't know why i am so detached with everything not only sports but from everything.

Like as though they are just something passing.  Why am i not like everyone else who follows or worships some one or the other.  Why don't i take sides or even go the distance to defend some one is better than other.  who knows.  But hey i think i wrote abt my new mob.  right.  Last friday i shot some pics. and i will be uploading them soon.  Well anyway hope rafa wins.
