Christmas Surprise
I went to Melo's house. Me, PRO, The last king of Jharkand, Mithun Chakraborty, Mr.dot, Mumbai Indians went to his house. I can't say we had a blast, but it was nice. it was different. I don't know what to say, but it felt good.
Then came back and watched Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines. The tamil dialogues were ok, not bad, but those words or dialogues which are the essence of Arnold's character were wasted in tamil. The I'll Be back / She'll be back and the last words of Arnold as Terminator - Asta la Vista, Baby, were rendered horribly in tamil.
And then, there was a surprise, i had a comment, a real comment i should say after a really long time. i had never been so excited about people's comments. But to be frank, this one was out of the blue. The poster, identifies himself as raghav, the superb dancer raghav who danced in Maanaada Mayilaada, who was there in Silambattam. He says thanks for noticing his efforts. I still can't believe it. Is it really you Raghav?!!!
and i created a profile in google. check it out here.

Fight Club!!!!
That is the only thing, that i can say to describe this movie. wow! Brad Pitt was amazing, Edward Norton was cool. The story was great! the shots were cool. I don't have anything to say, other than.....
Just watch it.
Silambattam - Simabattam...... - A review.
By Far, the worst, by simbu that i had seen till date, that is what i can say, what he is not dancing to the songs too. Is that a hip hop kinda style which you are trying to adopt in the songs dude. Never mind, you had so many things missing. not something, so many things. I ain't no one who know dancing, but you didn't have nothing to make me move.
But hold on, the flashback part was good. Simbu was great there, the song, sung by ilayaraja was superb. Prabhu was majestic. wonderful on his part. The part where he comes in like BILLA, was superb, except for the fact that, he does not have the body to carry the grace which is required for that character. But i can think of it as a spoof of billa and laugh. and to say the truth, yes it was a laugh riot at that juncture of the movie.
That song, no wait it was not one but two songs, "Vachikkava unna mattum" and "Where is the party tonight". i couldn't make why they had to interrupt the movie for these songs. i couldn't see a reason why the songs were there in the first place. You can hear the songs, but don't take the trouble to watch em. It sucks, the moves suck. especially, Where is the party tonight, the dance sucks, the video sucks.
It is just the kind of movie you would watch if you are down too much.
Watch it for Simbu's performance as Thamizh, in the second half, the other guy, i think his name is raghav, the character which kills the cows in Thamizh's house. and Prabhu.

Beliefs vs wishes.
For those who are around me, they know, what is happening. My mom and pop are looking for a girl to get me married. (i Can't explain the traditions here, at this point of time, coz i myself don't know em).
Come on, what, i am just 25 now. i don't even have finished working for the major things in my wishlist, i don't own a thing, except for what?,,... a laptop, a desktop, and a mobile phone, and... and... what else do i know, other than, my video games, computers and cartoons.
What about my wish?,,... well the ones whom i believe (ma friends, if you didn't know) think i don't stand a chance to woo anyone. I don't even know the basics. and what did they call me now, after all these years of struggle, after being looked down at every point, they are saying, i am too geeky to make any one to even turn and take a look at me. and they are asking me to try for someone in my office instead of the whole world. Bull S***, That is office. where you work, create beautiful things, which are of use to someone, not some place for flirting and romance.
I know, i don't look good. i don't have a great body, i'm obese slightly. I talk with a kind a humor which many find difficult to understand. I live online, than the real world. And i don't know anything outside of computers. And that is what i am. And i want to be me.
i know i am confuzzed.....

Gold Star! - followup
Next time, next week. i will work even more hard to be solo winner of the gold. But i have already set my eyes on the red bell which goes for challenge and which is a point more than gold. i have challenged some. Seems i have to read more and be cautious, coz in the next session i will be travelling thru hot waters, one small mistake could create large slides and falls.

Me, Rain and JLPT 2008
Even before i reached the railway station near my house, myself, my mobile, and my laptop were nearly drenched with water, coz of natural (rain), and unnatural (faulty design of the subway). Then after reaching Central the rain stopped completely but the Train in which i was supposed to go had not arrived due to some other problem, and it was delayed by around 3 and a half hours.
phew, after a long wait, i left chennai for madurai. after a overall delay of another half an half from the delayed schedule, i reached madurai at around 2330.
I started my preparation for the JLPT exams the very next day. in between i went to the book fair which was happening over there in madurai. It was wonderfull. I wish i could buy nearly every other book which i saw. but, was a little short on cash, and these guys do not accept plastic money. so i had to be content with 3 - 4 books which i bought.
I got some nice small story books and puzzle books for my uncle's daughters. well it was nice, after nearly 2 years i had gone to a book fair. Surrounded by books i was lost in time, till the organizers decided to pull me out of the trans at around 2100 in the evening on that day.
Then i left for Bangalore where i had to write the exam on 7th. Reached there on 6th stayed in Jeyan's place. he is not the same as last year, he was a little tensed, and shaking too much. I just can't believe what can happen to a person. We both wrote the exam in our respective levels, and not expecting any great. Hope everything turns fine for him.
Back to chennai, back to office, it was fun. I missed office so much. and now i am back.

Rules!!!
i sent a link of a post to some people.
i never wanted to advertise. But... I had to, i think, that was the only way out....
Gold Star!
An unconference is a facilitated, participant-driven conference centered around a theme or purpose. (Wikipedia)
It was not fair!, I attended the whole session today just to win the gold star. But, all i could manage was, my second consecutive silver star. Mani, did not make a note of the questions asked today, unlike previous sessions. But i cannot put the entire blame on him. even i did not remember what questions i asked... That was not right from my part also.
so well, better luck next time. I will win my gold star next time.
I have taken leave from tomorrow. so i can study for jlpt. Hope i pass this next time.
Rain
I couldn't get enough of the rain since i was carrying my laptop from office today. this darn thing would have become waste if it gets in the rain. Just now, i went out stood in the rain, it was dark out there. chill and the rain was cool.
WOW!!!, how much i miss those days, when i and satish would walk home from school to home in the evenings in the rain, How we rode thru the entire city during the flood causing rains of 2005 in his bike. from beach to Tambaram and then back home, all thru the small streets, coz the GST was too heavy with traffic coz of rain that day. The day when i made whole of rohit's house wet with rain water. THe hot pakoda's which we ate in the center bus stand in madipakkam, The cricket matches which we played. The infamous jump from the first floor, The whole way down it was fun. i would break everyother bone in my body, just to have all these fun again. Kidding, but it would be nice to enjoy all these again.
Today's was a start. maybe the days are coming, and i will enjoy the rain even more again. But!, who will get me those Pakodas? who can bring satish back here!

Surprise Call, Maggi & El Dorado
And later my parents left me reluctanly to a function. well and good. and i was having fun watching movies all day. Later i cooked Maggi, and saw Eldorado again. I have seen it innumerable times already, but still every time you see, the movie is still watchable. It is magic. Elton John's voice, miguel and tulio's adventures, Altivo's expressions, you can even watch it n number of times and still sit to watch one more time.
It was great today. I was so relieved after i talked to akka, and knew abt her health. Nothing can beat those 12 minutes today..........

Deepavali?! or just yet another holiday!!
But, I haven't bought crackers for the last 3 years(though for logical reason in 2006, what abt the last 2 years), we did not make any sweets for the last 2 years and i slept the whole day yesterday, did not visit any of the relatives or friends, leave visiting, i did not even call any one to wish happy deepavali. Man, what has become of us, why are we moving away from this fesivities. why?!!!!
Deepavali has become something like just another national holiday. I can't understand. During the rest of the year, when someone asks why you work like this day and night (that is a saying, we don't even work half the time, they are pointing.), and we say, that to be happy and be together friends and family for the festive season and yet here i am, sleeping away most of the time, coughing and covering me under sweater feeling unwell. Why can't we enjoy this day like those days of yester years. why?!!!!!!

Installing JDK 1.5.0_15 on Damn Small Linux - Not
First i went to sun's website and downloaded the .bin installation file. (not the rpm one). since i wanted to install in a place from where i can access it for all users. i became root. then i copied the .bin file to /usr/local, then enabled executable permissions to it and then executed the file. that is it. it got installed into /usr/local/jdk1.5.0_15.. I will list the exact steps which i had done.
$su
$cp /home/dsl/jdk-1_5_0_15-linux-i586.bin /usr/local/
$cd /usr/local
$chmod a+x jdk-1_5_0_15-linux-i586.bin
$./jdk-1_5_0_15-linux-i586.bin
after this, i logged in to another terminal and edited the .bashrc file to set the java_home and path variables, so as to access the commands directly in command prompt.
in terminal enter
$cd
$vi .bashrc
(or)
$vi .bash_profile
then at the end of the file add the following lines.
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk1.5.0_15
export PATH=$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin:$JAVA_HOME/lib
save the file and exit, and do a machine restart(it should work if you open another terminal and check, but all failed and only a reboot worked in my case).....

Damn Small Linux on VmWare
I am in delhi, and am void of access to any system sparing my office pc here. and that to i can't install anything on it. So now me being far away from linux was sort of taking a toll on me. so i decided to install linux on vmware as it was already there in my machine.
Initially i had tried to install it, though everything went smoothly, but it did not work or to be precise it did not boot into the newly installed system. Then on further digging around i found it did not handle scsi disks so i had to set it to IDE. I forgot where i had found the info, you will get it with a simple google. i am too lazy to go around. but it was inthe dsl forums. That much i remember.
i will say what i had done.
First i had created a virtual IDE disk for 3 GB.
then after booting into the ISO, i went into terminal and became root.
now i ran cfdisk, and created two partitions 1 gb swap and rest as ext3 bootable.
then i started the installation with the command dsl-hdinstall. and went ahead with the default at everyplace.
after 10 mins it was there. i was asked to reboot and it went right into the hd boot. now things were working fine. Now i am planning to install jdk (which should not be a problem), mysql and then dimension, and take it for a test run...

A Hard Decision
It is not everyday that some one who is up the ladder at the near top of the organization would call you for a chat.
It is not everyday that, that one person at the top of the organization, would offer a dream chance to join his elite team.
And it is not everyday that you would reject the offer and live the rest of the life as though nothing had happened.
There were not so many reasons why i said no to his offer... only a few,
- His thinking of only his solution is correct.
- Being asked to stay in Delhi.
- The rest of office's attitude.
As i have heard, it was difficult to say No. But somehow, i did......
Transfering data from one database to another
DimensioN is built on top of JBOSS. It has some inbuilt functionality to export data from one database to another, with some rules associated with it. and that is great, But what it lacks is you cannot pick and choose which records you want to transfer. That was a problem.
There is a way to atttain the solution for this problem in DimensioN, but the application architecture which we had decided upon did not permit, or to be correct will make it too complex, for the future DimensioN developer to understand and tackle any problems if they should arise. this would invove the logic as follows,
rModify --> DbImport --> rModify....
And as you can see rModify is a bit of a highlevel feature, and many still dread to use it. so the only thing which i could think off was using some thing else which is out of DimensioN but still could be used with it, like Ant target or something.
My first choice was to use Ant target, coz i have done database manipulation with it for an other project, previously. As i can use it as a template and proceed off, and that would save time too. But, i ran into trouble with it, First i had to make javascript to work from inside Ant and then after i had succeded, when i had tried to do the database manipulation, it was creating a exception saying Illegal Access Exception, some AntClassLoader came in and some bullshit which i was not able to understand. and i had waited for 3 days for OS support, but when i came to know that help might not arrive on time, i wanted to put in something to get things going till the support arrived.
Another two days and that jsp expert had not finished the job yet, and they were pressing me for an answer, as though i was a part of that project. ( i had moved to another one even b4 the problem started). Well then, i had to sit back and write the code again for the jsp. (i hate to code. but this was as usual Reverse Engineering, as i would put it,coz i know the basics to do anything, i just did not have the time to proceed to write things from scratch.) I had set a deadline of 4 hours for me to finish. and i sat down to write the code. it took me 3 hours and a half to do it. and it was pretty much good, without any problems, and is working fine.
I know there are still 2 potential pit falls..... (1) I haven't used a try catch block, so if any exceptions are thrown the page will be a error. which i will have to correct in the future... (2) I haven't used parameterized prepare statement, so if the data is going to have any problems like a single quote, or anything that would hamper a insert statement on syntax, yet again the page will break with an error.
So with these details, i give you the code. it might be helpful to someone.

An Evening Walk in Delhi,
The evening was boring, I re read the Prisoner of Birth for the 3rd time, and then thout atleast lemme go for a walk for some fresh air and lemme check out the new book store which these guys found yesterday, so i wore the newly bought jeans and the I'M FUN tee and hit the road. It was too hot, the slight drizzle in the evening must be a reason for this, i took the inner roads instead of taking the main road, reacching the ring road and gooing to the destination, i walked slowly reach the subway crossed the road and moved into the mall searching for the shop which they had gone yesterday. and atlast i found it, but to my disappointment it was Closed,
I but then, i was caught in two minds weather should i go to the next one some distance down the road, or shall i return home. But the heat was too much for me, so i decided to walk back to the guest house.
It was strange to walk the streets here in south Ex, the people do not care what happens, They just walk by, they are like a archipelago, a group of islands. i don't know weather the next house people will know if some thing happens in one of the neighbour's houses. I doubt it. It is too silent, disturbingly silent. I hate this place....
The guys are still not back. i think i will talk another walk, and then go to sleep...

Drinks Party!!!
Once J had said that it would be loud and fun to be there in the party. But this one wasn't so. It was loud in the first 5 minutes but then it was normal after that, it was too boring that i went back to my place to work after half an hour. It wasn't that great though, but i got the much needed break from work that day. We did take some pics there, will be uploading them soon.
btw, I don't drink.

India Strikes Gold on the 4th day of the Beijing Olympics 2008
BCCI Rs.25 lakhs
Haryana Rs.25 Lakh
Karnataka Rs.10 Lakh
Punjab Rs.1 crore
Chandigarh Rs.5 lakh
Madhya Pradesh Rs.5 lakh
Free travel in Spice Jet
Free Travel pass in First Class Compartment
This aint a wish list. This is what Abinav bindra gets for winning the gold medal in Olympics, not to mention to his favourite dishes from his sister for this raksha bandhan...
Well I am not saying no body should reward him for winning the olympic gold medal.. he has made india proud. But the very point which all these government bodies miss out is what makes me angry...
Lets list the facts first.
- Abinav never used any government facilities.
- Abinav never went to the academy to practice.
- all other shooters failed to qualify, baring a few who went to the first round..
when these idiotic governments can shell out so much money on to this winner, then why not shell some thing like this for a academy where the people can practice and can get us more medals, that this only lone some till date, while china has already raked 32 (and counting) gold medals....
And for the whole day, (also for the following next 2 days) they were telecasting and talking and wishing to only abinav bindra, everything else took a back seat... They talked about nothing. All these tv channels which carry many a sting operations to uncover so many things, why not they do a investigation on why so many athletes failed to qualify. Why don't they raise this question everytime they are hailing some one. This time, indians struck gold on the 4th day itself, now they will not worry, even if nobody else is going towin a medal in the rest of the days in this tournanemt. why worry, we already got a medal and that too gold.. FUCK off
This makes a point like this, tat only those with money can sharpen their talents and go about and try to win the gold. The previous versions silver winner Rajavardhan Rathore was supported by the Army and not by the government in any means... and now he is getting all the money back. again. and what the rest of the people who relied on the government systems, there futures will be in doubt, they might be let off for some days, then everything will be forgotten and they will be doing the same things again...
what the hell is this government there for, what is the sports ministry doing. Why the hell am i writing about this?!!
Independence Day in the Capital....
Am just getting bored in Delhi... I don't know what i will do the next two days. The capital is closed for the day, all borders have been sealed since yesterday night, Trafic was worse yesterday, very less number of buses and autos. It was a contest to catch a auto last night, which i was enjoying in the rain. it took us nearly half hour to get a auto. Coming back, to day is the independence day of my country, and the capital has been locked down. The day the country got freedom, we are in a house arrests (kinda). it is boring
Fiddled with suse here from morning and made the Internet working, I still don;t know what the problem is, the internet was not working for the past 2 weeks and the fucking windows went down during the installation of SUSE, saying hal.dll missing or corrupt. and the very next day the internet stopped working in SUSE. we were just baffled. we were not having the correct settings to connect to internet. so we decided to take the settings from the windows installation which was not working. to do this we need to repair windows. it took us the whole week to get a windows installation disk.
But before we could lay our hands on the windows installation disk, the CTO who lives with us in the guest house, locked down the modem and the bios preventing us from booting thru d. Now with this idiot, i had to striggle thru this week till i made internet connectivity this morning....
The CTO talkes big things about linux, but he is against installing linux in the guest house machine (we just tried dual boot) and moreove, he was also not interested in getting the system into proper shape. he was preventing us from correcting the system, and also he was also not making any efforts to make it work properly, or not even calling the service guy to do his job, This sucks. Skelta
Now what am i doing talking abt some microsoft technology... well i was forced to sit through the demo of skelta. which i should say was quiet interesting product, considering, i too work with a tool, which is similar to this in the work flow design market, but that is of JAVA technology. ok, coming to Skelta, it had a nice good looking UI, and also the demo was impressive, and the Skelta guys have promised to give us a eval version which we can use it and see.
First things though i was impressed with skelta, i couldn't stop noting the one requirement which Skelta had. which was not so nice. It requires Either Mssql 2005 or above or Oracle 10g and above for it to run, and the other applicatios which are there already may run on any database which it has. now why should i go to installl another database server just for skelta when i am already using something which is being used by numerous other applications. I don't know why they stuck with only these tow databases for skelta's internal db use. This is one place where the tool i work with has a advantange, it can connect to any database with a JDBC driver, which is nearly every other database that exists, which is nearly everything. (ok there might be exceptions but then, Skelta too could not connect there either).
Though it has a nearly good looking ui, it looks too much like my Mail client's inbox, which looks boring after some time. This is again where there is a hands up with the my tool. But clearly there are places where D*******N will skore against Skelta, but there are, again places where Skelta will score. Now which i will be using in the near future, that i cannot tell, if my bosses say use Skelta, then i will have to use it. But then that doesn;t mean i will put my D*******N skillls to rest. I'll put them to good use somewhere...........
Like the same challenge that i had with this one porting to linux, this time i might have a greater challenge, coz this one will not work in Linux, as this is a microsoft technology. But again there is always a alternative when comming to linux, and there is MONO in this case. I might be tempted to try to port it to MONO but i won;t have the kind of support that i had for the present tool. Coz i won;t have access to the code base. But still there is no harm in trying. Lets wait with crossed fingers, for what the future holds only future knows..............
Delhi..............
It was just plain old memories, for the first two days, then back to the reality, the new office here, though the HO of the company that i work in, doesn't look so. There was no name board, it just looks like a big house entrance located in the wrong area... i couldn't get a pic. may be i;ll to get one later b4 i leave delhi.....
Got some pictures, and some nice funny ones too, will post em soon,......

A little Self Confidence....
Anyway coming to what happened today, i j ust geared up, thinking up all the positive things that i had been doing all these days after TOPL, my fast play and my forehand have improved, i know, but even with that i did not think i could have played the way that i played today,
I am not saying that i played too good and stuff, but still i did take on V, I did return A's serve, i was able to look thru the spin of V, it was just awesome, just awesome to see the ball land exactly where i had expected, just turning to exact amount which i had calculated, everything just fitted to the T, I was like on cloud 9, but still i kept check on everything, I did play good, from my point.
It's just wonderful what a little self belief can do to you.....
As i used to say during the end of college days, i repeat once again to myself, Believe in you.

To Delhi we go
Tickets came yesterday. myself and two others are leaving for Delhi this sunday.
From Kandhanchavadi to Egmore - A Journey on the Fast Train
The Journey was quite awesome, the high placed tracks, the wonderfull breeze, the superb stations, all were super.... I had taken some pictures during the travel, which i posted in picassa, you can find them here...
It bought back the memories of college days where we would travel back from tambaram to st thomas mount during the afternoons, in similar scenarios, except that the train would travel on land instead of high tracks..

Dom Inspector - Customizing Blogger Theme / Layout/ Template
Then i decided to do something which i would normally not do. play around with the css info in the xml to fit my requirement. first i went around with a fancy theme, but i couldn't make heads or toes of it.
Since now i had my mind bent on customising a theme for me, i decided to start with a ver simple theme, a minimalistic theme which would have just a background and display. i found one, i can't remember, from where i took this.. This is the current one, which was named redplanet... I did like the base template but not the splash image which was there at the top below the title.
I started off with Bluefish to edit the xml, and get out with my customization. But somewhere down the line, i remembered kavitha's saying, something about Dom Inspector in Firefox. Since I'm using IceWeasel in Debian, which is pretty much based on Firefox and is also similar to it, i chanced upon seeing weather it has dom inspector in it. I pressed Ctrl+Shift+I and, lo behold, there appeared Dom Inspector, it was pretty much simple, working with it. Editing the theme was nearly a piece of cake with this Dom Inspector. I had seen kavitha, Sumathi, Santhosh all playing with Dom Inspector for editing / customising look and feel at work, but this is the first time i have used it Dom Inspector. It was interesting to see such a powerful tool hidden away in a browser. I already had a strong belief, as firefox is the browser for developers, and one more reason in my arsenal to drive my point home.
Try using it.

Wine 1.0 and Dimension Studio 2.3
The next big jolt came when i tried to install the Dimension Server 2.3 in Linux, coz i know the fact that it will work in linux, and i have done it once or twice in my house. But when i tried i was running into errors of all sorts unknown to me, i did try to change the JDK to sun JDK 1.5.0_14 instead of Open JDK 1.7.. still i couldn't proceed the problem was that during installation MYSQL Tcp/Ip connectivity was disabled and myssql's case sensitivity switch was on. which was causing problems, and i was running around without checking these facts for nearly 5 hours... How insulting!!!.....
Well that was it, for now though.... I will make dimension studio 2.4 and all subsequent releases to work with the help of wine, and switch over to linux. This is a promise i make...........

AIR - The Movie
Now am waiting for the next thing GunXsword, i just saw the first episode last night. I can't say it was nice or anything. you can't judge anything a book by its cover, and a anime with only one episode. It has got me interested in it. now lets see how it unfolds, and will i be watching it till the end....

FMA - alchemy law of equivalent exchange
But the world isn't perfect, and the law is incomplete. Equivalent Exchange doesn't encompass everything that goes on here, but I still choose to believe in its principle, that all things do come at a price, that there's an ebb and a flow, a cycle, that the pain we went through, did have a reward, and that anyone who's determined and perseveres, will get something of value in return, even if it's not what they expected. I don't think of Equivalent Exchange as a law of the world anymore. I think of it as a promise, between my brother and me. A promise that someday, we'll see each other again.

Rise and (Honda) Shine!!!!!
Life is too boring. Satish is looking for jobs in and around chennai. Seems he is having a tough time with this . if nothing happens within this month end, he will leave to qatar once again. come on some one should be having a opening specially for him, but where are we supposed to find it.
I am feeling sick with life for the past week or so. I don't know what to do. I am just still holding on for my Ryuske to come. where are you, Ryuske....

Satish Marriage and other incidents
Satish got married last week. To be precise last Sunday, now i have to remember 3 marriage anniversaries. Tough job. I think, i should now stop calling him for anything and everything, coz she too needs time with him.
Though nothing much has happened, i got two people interested in getting Linux installed in their boxes, and if possible i'll help them get it done. considering the fact, being me, and making 5 people interested and getting 2 to think about installing Linux is really a very great achievement by my standards. still....
I just hope everything goes really well.
TOPL got underway in office. two matches over and 3 more to go. I lost my match. bad, really bad. shame on me..... The others have to win at least one more match for salvaging some pride, coz we have challenged OS and not the vice versa. a 3-2 lose would not be bad. but 5-0 whitewash would be worse. Even though, we knew what the result would be even before challenging them, we were just wanting to prove a point or two. Hope we win two more games. nothing more i ask...

Maanada Mailada & IPL Cheer Leaders
was watching maanada mailada as usual, (not because i like it, because mom wants to watch it, and i don't have a choice.....), it was exchange round today, where the guy will dress up and dance like a girl and vice versa, Kala master, one of the judges was not too very comfortable with what was going on stage. but she did not show it off in words, but the camera was on her at all times when she was visibly angry or should i say disappointed, or vexed, or i don't know what else to say. The costumes were not too good. The same when the ladies wear she does not have that expression, but when the reality is thrown in front like a slap on the face, she was there helpless.
The dance was really good many a times. Just that the costume was a little too upsetting for her it seems. Well, who am i to comment on issues like this, in this famous country, where some netas are crying boo and are considering to ban the cheerleaders in the IPL T20 tournament, for wearing skimpy outfits, but allow the bollywood heroines to dress even more skimpily, with the bare minimum outfits to go around freely, and they say it is art... I just can't understand it... So are the moral police saying that it is ok to dress the bare minimum in public or not?.......

Normal Eyes
The verdict is out atlast after so many years of hard yearned chance to atlast get rid of these glasses. it was a waste. all these efforts, the different ways i used to make my parents go with me for the laser test. twice i came close to success, but now all is just dust......
No i can't leave my glasses behind, i can't have normal eyes like everyone else around me. i have to be dependent on the glasses. it has been a dream which i had been chasing for nearly 15 years.... all those vivid dreams, colorful dreams in 70 mm with all those jazzy effects went poof when the ophthalmologist spoke those words, poof like how smoke disappears into thin air, everything disappeared. I just couldn't speak anything more, i just left. and when i exited the room , it was like the whole was laughing at my face, saying, yours was just a dream, nothing more, just a dream which just went away.
what else can you expect from a failure like me.. only non materializing dreams, just like the designs of my e-bike, just like everything else that has the trademark of me.....

A classic - The Swan Princess
By todays standards it wouldn't be any where in visual splendour, but still it was great story and it was great story telling. end of the day that is what matters not visual graphics and great music. they add value to the movie but they don't make great movies. a good story and the way it is told make them great and classic.
i bought Blue Streak and A Knight's Talk. classified as Action Comedy/Adventure. they too were good. i had already watched them many a time on tv, They are good......
hope i make one some day..........

Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Adress
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived, and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met here on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of it as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But in a larger sense we can not dedicate - we can not consecrate - we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled, here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but can never forget what they did here. It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they have, thus far, so nobly carried on. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us - that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here gave the last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
also, i did get some thing funny related with this, a nice imagination it was, What if Abe had used a power point to drive his speech, instead of his oratorical skills. a nice one take a look at it. also do read the makin of the presentation...

few things which i missed to mention in the past year.
I found many lookalikes when i was in bangalore. i even mistook them for my friends.... Then there was this lady, i can't say you who, that would put me in trouble. who smokes. big deal hanh! but i think it was cool. it was raining, and she was there standing in the balcony with a cigar in her hand, puffing away. she was coooool.
Then two months back, when i went to one of my uncle's retirement function, i was stunned at the command the people over there had on the language. i simply cannot talk without an english work in a sentence, they were talking entirely in tamil.. i just couldn't believe it. i wish i too could talk like that someday. i wish!!!!....
i wish there are many more such interesting incidents all along the way that life would lead me to.
And hey i forgot, i launched a google groups for team ddc. and it seems to be a lill successful. Hope it is useful to everyone in ddc..

Entrepreneur
Entrepreneur
You are hard-driving, sociable (on your own terms), alert, and very sure of yourself. In daily activities, you lend to charge ahead against all resistance and opposition. You view restraints as a challenge to getting the quick results you want. You value freedom more than equality and want room to operate. You are most effective where innovation, experimentation, and results are important, and where there are few rules and guideliness.
You disdain corporate structures and controls unless you do the organizing and controlling. As a subordinate, you tend to be a maverick. You may usurp power, overstep bounds, and do it your way. You are often critical of superiors, whom you rarely regard as such, and you resent criticism of your own actions. You are not easy to manage. You must also be made to understand that limits to your authority do exist. You are ambitious and want to move quickly up the bussiness ladder. You work best for a positive, competent, friendly superior with whom you can tell it like it is and openly discuss what is expected, on a noholds-barred basis.

JLPT certificate
Ah! the certificate..
The certificate indicating that i failed in JLPT level 4 examination came today via email from my friend Jeyan, he says he will mail the original soon to me.
Hmm, the first steps, first small steps, i may have failed this attempt, but i will learn the language and recieve certification that i am a certified japanese language speaker....... soon,..
Fedora 8 & Sun Java problems and Antelope
anyway on way of completing this, i found a editor for ant build files, which can be used to execute the scripts from the editor itself. The name is Antelope. it seems to be cool. and itself being built on ant, seems wondeful. thought there are some issues, still it looks great.
and also i have installed Squirrel on the debian system.
Fedora seem to have problems with sun java. i had installed jdl 1.5.0_06, seems to create some problems all programs just seems to quit just at the point of creating GUI. seems like the java is conflicting or having problems with X display system, will try to identify and rectify, but am not finding time to do it.
No time to breath.........
it has been a pretty busy week, except for the weekend which was again not so cool, still far better than the week, that was..... certain things are just funny. there is guy out there, who they say is so much experienced, and all that jazzy stuff about him, but when he comes on the line of fire, he just turns out to be a crap. He just sayz in his defence, i just don't want to do anything with the live server. come on, gimme a break. then why the hell, have i set up the UAT server, and also recreated the live server on to his machine. just to say this answer.....
anything, just anything, to change the font. king how to change the font, king how to hide this button, king how to change the name of the title bar. Let the heaven show mercy on you....
while this was one type of a character which i had been dealing with for the past 2 months, the other one which i had problems with is a computer system. An automation, where you rules to find controls and try to pull data out of them and then put data back to them (a.k.a screen scrapping). Now imagine this... all the rules that you wrote matches, yet the control is still not identifiable. the rules match only for this control. and the funniest part was it was working in the morning but starts to fail the moment we had found a way to tackle the only thing which was pending, and causing problems. Now everything is breaking up and the plan has to reworked.
But with all this and may more similar to this (which fortunately i have to handle daily) still i go around to office. why? god only knows....

A GUI to manage SVN
So may be, in the next round, i will try to remove the php dependency and try to do everything with ANT.......
but till then this is it. The news is official. i have named it manageSVN. and it is currently in version 0.0.3. don't ask me for any explanations. i haven't formed any idea for versioning.
The immediate additions would be a mailing system to send mails to indicate the users that a repository has been created. and stuff like that. But soon i think i have to move to something else other than ant, coz ANT would localize this, meaning you gotta be there in the server to do it. so may be a web based system to administer, create, modify, backup the repositories, writing and backing up configurations, should be developed down the lane...

An Apache ant way for a management console for SVN
Though ant itself has some thing to address issues with svn i could not get to it. also there was no manual or something from which i can learn which i was unable to find......
I had to also use php for writing the configuration files..(to know the setup which i use for svn server you can check out the post here)... i think this part with php is pretty much solved, but still there is an issue send parameters to the php program from ant.... will soon solve 'em....
Will post the build file and the php progs soon.......
