Wine 1.0 and Dimension Studio 2.3

At last, a major release of wine, which stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator, came out last week, and it was available in the mandriva repositories yesterday morning. The first thing i did as i reached office yesterday was to install and then try to install and use Dimension Studio in Linux. Though it was a fairly easy cake walk with wine and Dimension Studio version 2.3 did work, and worked so cool. That i was just in awe!!,,, all the struggle for the past 7 months, the pain, the angst, everything vanished, at the sight of the progress bar progressing and the spreadsheet interface appearing. I was there like child with his new toy to play with, and doing all sorts of things..... The joy was not for long, coz when i tried it with the latest version of Dimension Studio 2.4 it was very similar to what has been happening for the past 6 months. Still i need to try once again with the 2.4 version.

The next big jolt came when i tried to install the Dimension Server 2.3 in Linux, coz i know the fact that it will work in linux, and i have done it once or twice in my house. But when i tried i was running into errors of all sorts unknown to me, i did try to change the JDK to sun JDK 1.5.0_14 instead of Open JDK 1.7.. still i couldn't proceed the problem was that during installation MYSQL Tcp/Ip connectivity was disabled and myssql's case sensitivity switch was on. which was causing problems, and i was running around without checking these facts for nearly 5 hours... How insulting!!!.....

Well that was it, for now though.... I will make dimension studio 2.4 and all subsequent releases to work with the help of wine, and switch over to linux. This is a promise i make...........

TOPL concludes Orangescape beat Team 4-1

The TOPL which was running along for the past month and half has concluded finally, with Orangescape beating us (Team) by 4 matches to 1. We are planning to call them for another one in the month of August / September. Though OS did not play to their potential they did win easily. But i did see some nice, good plays from team too. and if they are trained properly, we can really give a run in the next edition of TOPL, if it ever happens.........

AIR - The Movie

Its been a long time, since i got some anime to watch, if i recollect correctly i haven't got any thing since end of april. Well i got to watch AIR movie 2 days back. I have to say it, that it is really good, The story, of a winged princess who is imprisoned, and her guardian who loves her, and their present avatars, going thru similar situations, was nice. It was really a nice, touching story. Still haven't seen the anime series. What can you pack in a movie of 1 and a half hours when compared to a 26 episode series? Will wait till i get my hands on the series.
Now am waiting for the next thing GunXsword, i just saw the first episode last night. I can't say it was nice or anything. you can't judge anything a book by its cover, and a anime with only one episode. It has got me interested in it. now lets see how it unfolds, and will i be watching it till the end....

FMA - alchemy law of equivalent exchange

Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

But the world isn't perfect, and the law is incomplete. Equivalent Exchange doesn't encompass everything that goes on here, but I still choose to believe in its principle, that all things do come at a price, that there's an ebb and a flow, a cycle, that the pain we went through, did have a reward, and that anyone who's determined and perseveres, will get something of value in return, even if it's not what they expected. I don't think of Equivalent Exchange as a law of the world anymore. I think of it as a promise, between my brother and me. A promise that someday, we'll see each other again.

Rise and (Honda) Shine!!!!!

Honda Shine! that is the bike which i had booked for me. I know this is my second attempt at buying a two wheeler. I just went over there to book a Aviator but instead got this one booked.

Life is too boring. Satish is looking for jobs in and around chennai. Seems he is having a tough time with this . if nothing happens within this month end, he will leave to qatar once again. come on some one should be having a opening specially for him, but where are we supposed to find it.

I am feeling sick with life for the past week or so. I don't know what to do. I am just still holding on for my Ryuske to come. where are you, Ryuske....

Satish Marriage and other incidents

The last few weeks haven't been that good. They haven't been bad either. still just boring old life. Am expecting a change, the problem is weather i should initiate the change or wait for it. it was just 5 mins and 1 question which showed me what my problem was, why i am performing below par, well below my own standards. Now i am just trying, to make things right, the way it was, that is the only way to reinvent / motivate myself. But how am i to go about and do it. Where am i to start for the change. am just confused..... too confused...

Satish got married last week. To be precise last Sunday, now i have to remember 3 marriage anniversaries. Tough job. I think, i should now stop calling him for anything and everything, coz she too needs time with him.

Though nothing much has happened, i got two people interested in getting Linux installed in their boxes, and if possible i'll help them get it done. considering the fact, being me, and making 5 people interested and getting 2 to think about installing Linux is really a very great achievement by my standards. still....

I just hope everything goes really well.

TOPL got underway in office. two matches over and 3 more to go. I lost my match. bad, really bad. shame on me..... The others have to win at least one more match for salvaging some pride, coz we have challenged OS and not the vice versa. a 3-2 lose would not be bad. but 5-0 whitewash would be worse. Even though, we knew what the result would be even before challenging them, we were just wanting to prove a point or two. Hope we win two more games. nothing more i ask...

God in Room no 305

அறை எண் 305ல் கடவுள் a.k.a God in Room no 305. we went to that movie on saturday. was a good movie. a new concept. and a good presentation. a must watch but, only one time watch. Prakashraj is as usual, good. Kanga Karuppu is handsome..

The message is clear.

Midori Days

Though i didn't have enough time last week, i did manage to watch one more anime series. Midori Days (midori no hibi). was in mkv format, dual language. i tried watching with both. japanese was a bit difficult to me. any way, the anime is really good. The story is nice. The only thing which prevented me from watching it when my parents were around was the topless scenes. other than that, this movie is a must watch., A really touching anime, but it still comes behind FMA and Elfen Leid.

Maanada Mailada & IPL Cheer Leaders

Jeez....

was watching maanada mailada as usual, (not because i like it, because mom wants to watch it, and i don't have a choice.....), it was exchange round today, where the guy will dress up and dance like a girl and vice versa, Kala master, one of the judges was not too very comfortable with what was going on stage. but she did not show it off in words, but the camera was on her at all times when she was visibly angry or should i say disappointed, or vexed, or i don't know what else to say. The costumes were not too good. The same when the ladies wear she does not have that expression, but when the reality is thrown in front like a slap on the face, she was there helpless.

The dance was really good many a times. Just that the costume was a little too upsetting for her it seems. Well, who am i to comment on issues like this, in this famous country, where some netas are crying boo and are considering to ban the cheerleaders in the IPL T20 tournament, for wearing skimpy outfits, but allow the bollywood heroines to dress even more skimpily, with the bare minimum outfits to go around freely, and they say it is art... I just can't understand it... So are the moral police saying that it is ok to dress the bare minimum in public or not?.......

Normal Eyes

Hmm,

The verdict is out atlast after so many years of hard yearned chance to atlast get rid of these glasses. it was a waste. all these efforts, the different ways i used to make my parents go with me for the laser test. twice i came close to success, but now all is just dust......

No i can't leave my glasses behind, i can't have normal eyes like everyone else around me. i have to be dependent on the glasses. it has been a dream which i had been chasing for nearly 15 years.... all those vivid dreams, colorful dreams in 70 mm with all those jazzy effects went poof when the ophthalmologist spoke those words, poof like how smoke disappears into thin air, everything disappeared. I just couldn't speak anything more, i just left. and when i exited the room , it was like the whole was laughing at my face, saying, yours was just a dream, nothing more, just a dream which just went away.

what else can you expect from a failure like me.. only non materializing dreams, just like the designs of my e-bike, just like everything else that has the trademark of me.....
