It was tat time of the year yesterday. The time of joy. The festival of lights, the festival to celebrate the victory of good over evil. As a kid this was the day other than my birthday i would eagerly wait for (though both would come in so close that i would not be able to enjoy both fully).... I would run around the house, visit the relatives, burst crackers. wait the whole night to be the first to burst crackers in my street. Sneaking around to steal the confectionaries and sweets. The thrill of lighting the 100 walas and 1000 walas, the joy of wearing the new clothes, to check out the next door kids what he is wearing and try to better than him. That was the deepavali which we used to enjoy.
But, I haven't bought crackers for the last 3 years(though for logical reason in 2006, what abt the last 2 years), we did not make any sweets for the last 2 years and i slept the whole day yesterday, did not visit any of the relatives or friends, leave visiting, i did not even call any one to wish happy deepavali. Man, what has become of us, why are we moving away from this fesivities. why?!!!!
Deepavali has become something like just another national holiday. I can't understand. During the rest of the year, when someone asks why you work like this day and night (that is a saying, we don't even work half the time, they are pointing.), and we say, that to be happy and be together friends and family for the festive season and yet here i am, sleeping away most of the time, coughing and covering me under sweater feeling unwell. Why can't we enjoy this day like those days of yester years. why?!!!!!!
