PLUTO or 134340?

On August 24th, the International Astronomical Union redefined what is

required for planet-hood. This had the result of reclassifying Pluto

as a dwarf planet.  But now they have even gone too far as renaming our beloved planet from PLUTO to 134340.  Isn´t there no one who is there ask these guys what the hell they are doing?

Bluetooth File Transfers in Linux (to and from mobile)

I think i have solved the problem of file transfer between my Sony Ericsson T610 and Fedora Core 5 Linux PC
I will give the complete process as i had done. But, I cannot guarentee that it will surely work for u. It worked for me.
Thanks to all those guys @ linuxquestions.org who helped me out with suggestions. This will lwork with mostly all bluetooth mobiles. But b4 u begin, check if your bluetooth dongle or device on your systesm is detected/compatible with linux.

For this you will not need any extra software. everything is present in FC5 itself. u should have installed teh BlueZ packages. i think there are 4 packages.

First we need to start the Bluetooth Service
at the terminal type

/etc/init.d/bluetooth start

alternatively this can be done from menus by going to System --> Administration --> Services and starting the Bluetooth service.

then we need to start the hcid. at the terminal

hcid

Now we have started the device. now we need to get the addresses for the communication to take place. for that @ terminal type the command

hcitool dev
the output will be something like this. the 00:11:B1:xx:xx:xx is the address.

[root@mysty ~]# hcitool dev
Devices:
hci0 00:11:B1:07:A2:BD

now you will get your system´s address (if u use a dongle it is the dongle´s address). now to find the devices present in the range.

[root@mysty ~]# hcitool scan
Scanning ...
00:0F:DE:33:BC:F8 Aba's

now linux will scan and give you the addresses of all the devices present within range. the output will be something like above. it wil also give the name of the device if available

note down the address you will need it later.

now you need to create a node for this connection to occur properly. but b4 that check out weather the mobile and system can talk with each other by pinging.

l2ping it wiil be something like this.

[root@mysty ~]# l2ping 00:0F:DE:33:BC:F8
Ping: 00:0F:DE:33:BC:F8 from 00:11:B1:07:A2:BD (data size 44) ...
0 bytes from 00:0F:DE:33:BC:F8 id 0 time 52.07ms
0 bytes from 00:0F:DE:33:BC:F8 id 1 time 44.37ms
0 bytes from 00:0F:DE:33:BC:F8 id 2 time 43.09ms
0 bytes from 00:0F:DE:33:BC:F8 id 3 time 33.83ms
0 bytes from 00:0F:DE:33:BC:F8 id 4 time 40.24ms
0 bytes from 00:0F:DE:33:BC:F8 id 5 time 37.62ms
6 sent, 6 received, 0% loss

ok now to create a node for the device. at the terminal

mknod /dev/rfcomm0 c 216 0

now we have to bind the mobile device to this node.

rfcomm bind /dev/rfcomm0 00:0F:DE:33:BC:F8 1

that number 1 @ the end is the channel which we will be using for the communication. use your phone´s address.

you can use the rfcomm show command to see all the rfcomm devices bound to your system.

now you can start sharing files between your system and mobile.

use gnome-obex-send to send a file to your mobile.

to send from your mobile to pc first you will have to start the Obex server.
if you are unable to start the server check for a bluetooth icon near the time in the panel. if it is there close it and then start the server. to start the server

[root@mysty ~]# gnome-obex-server

now you can send files from mobile to pc by choosing send --> via bluetooth option.

may be now i have to search for a decent GUI for doing this, so that i can recommend this to some of my friends.

if any thing goes wrong, please leave me a comment here. also try the various forums. the more places u seek, the more quicker u´ll get a solution

What Does Love Mean? The best answer

The best answer from all those answers those children gave for that question, in my opinion is this one.

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."
- Lauren - age 4

What Does Love Mean?

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"
The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined.

LOVE IS:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather
does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." - Rebecca - age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth." - Billy - age 4

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs." - Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
-Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes tea for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK." - Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss." - Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." - Bobby - age 5

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate." - Nikka - age 6

"When you tell someone something bad about yourself and you're scared they won't love you anymore. But then you get surprised because not only do they still love you, they love you even more." - Matthew - age 7

"There are two kinds of love. Our love. God's love. But God makes both kinds of them." Jenny - age 4

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." - Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well." - Tommy - age 6

"My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night." - Clare - Age 5

"Love is when mommy sees daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."
- Chris - age 8

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day." - Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."
- Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." - Karen - age 7

"You really shouldn't say I love you, unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot." - Jessica - age 8

Imagine - John Lenon

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

The 7 Wonders of the world

A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present "Seven Wonders of the World."

Though there were some disagreements the following received the most votes:

1. Egypt's Great Pyramids

2. Taj Mahal

3. Grand Canyon

4. Panama Canal

5. Empire State Building

6. St. Peter's Basilica

7. China's Great Wall

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student had not finished her paper yet.
So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list.

The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many."

The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help."

The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the 'Seven Wonders of the World' are:

1. to see

2. to hear

3. to touch

4. to taste

5. to feel

6. to laugh

7. and to love."

The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. The things we overlook as simple
and ordinary and that we take for granted are truly wondrous!

A gentle reminder - that the most precious things in life cannot be built by hand or bought by man.

After the Operation (my ankle). Operation Fedora Core 5

Yes the operation was a Major one. and the fracture a rare one and a torturing one, which will be torturing me for a minimum of one year. some body help me.

Since resting was never in my agenda all my life. i just decided to fiddle with fedora core 5 a liitle. but indeed this was a new release, and a cool one. so many improvements. and i even configured net access without any fuss like RHEL v4 or the core 4 or Suse 10 which i was using previously.

Man Core 5 really rocks. But still the same problems of Fedora cores is still there. the support for media and NTFS. Now after really converting to Linux, i still feel there is not enough games and support for linux in the general public. so i still am stuck with the not so good Windows for playing games. For the rest there is the reliable Linux.

I just had trouble with the movie players and mp3 files but all got resolved in 2 days and now it is really cool. and i even configured the online update utility. it is so smooth.

Man Linux rocks, no sudden crashes or hangs. Just only smooth operation. and best of all it is free. Free FREEEE.

I LOVE LINUX.

The last 5 months

Ok. i forgot you. no i didn't actually. i wasn't in a position to access you. That is why i didn't write here. BUt i shouldn;t have forgot to say to you before i started on the journey. K i'll elaborate u what happened in that time.

I got a new job, the one i had dreamed of, to be an Engineer. Now i became a Enigneer. it was on April 10th. i had to leave to delhi to join. My training would be there and then i would be posted somewhere in UP like either in Agra, Lucknow or Kanpur. Cool.

I joined in Delhi office on April 19th. The job was really cool. Maintanence Engineer. My job was actually to perform maintanence on the gas compression packages, which compressed Natural Gas. The Packages i worked on are make of Dresser Rand Inc USA. Then i found out, that my company had the complete contract on the Dresser Rand Compression Systems in INdia. and Dresser Rand held 80% of Indian market. So now i can get anywhere in India. May be in future.

it was reallly a nice job. but the uneartly hours of work just tierd me. there was no fixed office timings. if you get a call you need to attend to the job whereever it would be even in the other corner of the state. That was thrilling. HOw to get to the other end of city within half hour at midnight. try it. then ya'll know.

After a 2 month stint in delhi i was posted as complete Kanpur instrumentation incharge on June 24th. I took up charge there on 26th June. i have to say somethings about Kanpur. It is the dirtiest city of INdia and 6th dirtiest in the world. That was what i was briefed abt the city. i liked this city beter than Delhi. it was something similar to chennai without the dirty things around. It was like, even i couldn't believe myself, the way i worked with the completely organised mess which i was famous for. After i came back to chennai my Supervisor was unable to make heads and tails out of my notes and was driven to despair when faced with problems and questions on the report i sent on his behalf. Man he must have gone really mad.

Now why did i come back to chennai, you may be thinking. Nothing, i just broke my left leg ankle on July 18th. and the doctors said that i have to be operated for that. Operated for a fracture, this has to be crazy, i thouhgt. So i just left the place in a better shambles than it was when i took charge and took leave and came down to delhi bby shatabdi and then to chennai from there via flight.

I was admitted in MIOT hospitals on June 26th and Operated on June 28th with a Steel plate fixed on the tibia with 4 screws. now i'm resting in my house. still unable to walk. Now my Manager calls up some 2 days back and says come quickly we need you in kanpur. your superior has gone mad and the US heads have asked to put me there as incharge and supervisor.

Now i'm sitting ducks in my house in chennai. so don't worry bro i'll make it there within this month end, but everything depends on doctor's decision this saturday.
That is what happened in the last 5 months. sorry fo r not saying all these things then and there.
